The Faculty of World Politics over the years of its existence has become a prestigious faculty of the leading university of the country, whose the diploma is highly quoted in Russia and abroad. The faculty prepares highly qualified personnel of experts, analysts, Referrals for work in international organizations, non-governmental and interstate structures, transnational corporations, banks.
Learning Process
Training at the faculty is carried out in the following areas:
- 41.03.05 "International Relations" (undergraduate),
- 41.04.05 "International relations" (magistracy).
Postgraduate training is carried out in the following areas:
- 41.06.01 "Political sciences and regional studies" (profile "Political problems of international relations, global and regional development") and
- 46.06.01 "Historical Sciences and Archeology" (profile "History of International Relations and Foreign Policy").
Terms of study: 4 years (undergraduate), 2 years (master's), 3 years (graduate).
Bachelor degree
During the first two years, undergraduate students study:
- general humanitarian disciplines (history of Russia, world history, political science, world religions, state theory and law),
- mathematical and natural science (computer science, economic geography, modern natural science),
- general professional (history of international relations, foundations of international security, theory of international relations, theory of diplomacy, conflict science, ethnosociology), etc.
From the 3rd year, students specialize in studying specific problems of world politics, studying one of the following profiles:
- "World Politics,"
- "International security,"
- "Regional problems of world politics,"
- "Information support of foreign policy."
Depending on the direction chosen, students study such disciplines as "Nuclear Factor in World Politics," "Arms Control," "Political History of Latin America," "Islam and Politics," "History of European Integration," "Intercultural Communications in the Media, Politics and Diplomacy," "Information Technologies of Advertising and Propaganda in World Politics" and many others.
Graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in international relations.
Practice
The training of an international student is not limited to the walls of the audience. It was the Faculty of World Politics that founded and annually holds the "Model UN Moscow State University" - an exciting role-playing game for international students, which unites students from regions of Russia, cities near and far abroad.
During the Model meetings, participants act as representatives of UN member states or observers to the UN and discuss international issues on the agenda of the relevant bodies.
Practice is a mandatory part of the educational process. In the second year, students undergo translation practice, in the eighth semester (4th year) - pre-diploma, where they have the opportunity to use the theoretical knowledge obtained during training at the FMP to solve specific tasks set for them by leaders.
Students practice in such structures as the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Economic Development, Rostechnology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the TASS news agency and many others.
Foreign languages
Special attention is paid at the faculty to the study of foreign languages. From the first year, FMP students study two languages according to choice: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Hindi. Students not only learn the language, but also learn to apply it in practice: they imitate the activities of various organizations, for example, they hold meetings of the G20 in German or participate in the US Presidential Election in English.
Included training abroad
Good language training offers extensive opportunities for internships abroad. After the second year, FMP students can study at one of the leading universities in the world. Study abroad is included: the student not only studies disciplines at a partner university, but also continues to master the FMP curriculum. Students are selected on a competitive basis: the student must demonstrate strong motivation, have high academic performance and a tendency to conduct research activities.
Academic programs of included study are available to students in leading universities in Europe, the Near and Middle East, South and South-East Asia, Australia and Oceania, North and Latin America.
Teachers
The first dean of the Faculty of World Politics of Moscow State University is a prominent statesman and scientist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.A. Kokoshin. Since 2019, the dean of the faculty is A.A. Sidorov.
In addition, the FMP regularly invites prominent political and state figures, diplomats, major scientists, military leaders.
Magistracy
For those entering the master's degree, the faculty offers the following master's programs:

- "Regional problems of world politics,"
- "Economic diplomacy"
- "Information support of state interests" (with the support of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). As part of the program, students get acquainted with methods and means of ensuring information security, technologies of modern information warfare and hybrid wars. Part of the classes is held on the site of the press center of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The program is led by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Faculty of World Politics of Moscow State University T.G. Dobrosklonskaya with the participation of the candidate of historical sciences, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the II class, Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs M.V. Zakharova.

In 2020, it is planned to open the program "Economic Diplomacy."
In the magistracy, the emphasis on foreign languages is strengthened by the inclusion of mandatory professional languages in the programs Courses in English.
