History

2022

Scientists of the Faculty of VMK Moscow State University have identified the weak points of applications when using machine learning

On April 1, 2022, the VMK MSU reported that within the framework of the research conducted at the faculty on the topic "Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity," representatives of the NOSH MSU "Brain, Cognitive Systems, Artificial Intelligence" revealed that the main obstacle to the use of machine learning models in critical applications is the problem associated with the resistance of algorithms of this class to external influences. The results of the study are published in the International Journal of Open Information Technologies. Read more here.

Agreement with Maxima Telecom to develop technologies in education

The company Maxima Telecom"," developing projects and solutions for digitalization, transport urban economy and, and industries the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics Moscow state of the University named after M.V. Lomonosov on January 25, 2022 announced cooperation. The corresponding agreement was signed by the chairman of the board of directors of "Maxima Telecom" Sergey Aslanyan and the dean of the faculty of VMK Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Sokolov

The agreement provides for the development of technologies in education, participation in joint innovative activities, as well as the integration of the business component into the educational process, the organization of internships and production practices for students and employees of the faculty.

Within the framework of the signed agreement, it is planned to hold master classes and open lectures from leading experts of the company, who will tell students of the VMK faculty about the use of artificial intelligence technologies (neural networks, predictive analytics, methods of analyzing big data and other technologies) in projects to digitalize transport and urban infrastructure.

Maxima Telecom will offer students the opportunity to take part in creating the company's digital solutions, participate in the implementation and immerse themselves in the practical aspect of computer science and large IT projects during internships and production practice. The trainees will be assigned mentors from among the most experienced employees of Maxima Telecom, who will help them with navigation in the "live" environment of real projects for the construction of communication networks, data analysis and processing, and software development for customers.

Also, students will have access to the resources of the technological laboratory "Maxima Telecom," both for the implementation of their own educational projects, and as part of the passage of production practice.

2011: Microsoft Research's Interest in Faculty Laboratory Research on Multidimensional Arrays

Since 1991, the research division of Microsoft Research has been operating in Russia. As of March 2011, within the framework of the External Research program, the research center worked in Russia to interact with a number of leading universities in the country. In particular, according to the SDS (Scientific Data Set) project, the Microsoft Research Laboratory of Computational Mathematics in Cambridge (UK) and the Laboratory of Tools for Mathematical Modeling, Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov creates a class library for working with multidimensional arrays, which are the main type of scientific data. The SDS library as source code is in the public domain.
