PROMT has been one of the world leaders in the development of linguistic IT solutions for the corporate segment since 1991. As of November 2016, PROMT is a Russian developer of linguistic IT solutions for corporations and private users. The company offers translation systems for 17 languages (English, Russian, Bulgarian, Spanish, Italian, Kazakh, Chinese in two versions, Latvian, German, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Ukrainian, French, Japanese, Arabic, Finnish).

Launch PROMT Analyzer SDK

In 2016, PROMT launched two new products for the corporate segment. PROMT Analyzer - a solution in the field of artificial intelligence for working with Big Data - is designed for implementation in information and analytical and search engines. Using this tool, you can search, extract, summarize, and analyze information from unstructured data in different languages. The development of this technology will be facilitated by work under the contract concluded in November 2016 on the strategic cooperation of PROMT with the 3i Technologies consortium.

The cloud solution for business PROMT Cloud API, presented in three basic configurations, allows you to integrate PROMT online translation technologies both into sites and into any programs where you need to work with a continuous flow of texts and documents in different languages.

Updates for PROMT Translation Server were released: an exclusive version 11.5 was released, which added new language pairs with Korean and Hungarian.

In September 2016, PROMT updated its product line to version 12. PROMT Translation Server has an integrated database of real examples of use with intelligent search, a super-confidential operating mode for company managers, a plugin for SDL Trados and has added many useful tools that make it easier to work: user translation memory, one-button transfer of user data, convenient display mode of translated documents and much more. The changes also affected desktop products for private and corporate users. As a bonus, all desktop products have added the ability to translate from Arabic, Chinese, Turkish, Kazakh, Finnish and Japanese languages ​ ​ online.

In 2016, the next large stage of work on a project to introduce artificial intelligence technologies into the work of the patent service of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property was completed. The new version of PROMT Translation Server, developed specifically for the federal department, made it possible to optimize its work with information in different languages.

The company enters new markets: PROMT has increased its presence in the Asia-Pacific region thanks to a contract for strategic partnership with a large supplier of IT solutions Chuanhow Technologies.

Products for private users are also actively developing. The second version of PROMT Offline translator has been released for. The Chinese iOS Translate.Ru language was added in two versions, Spanish grammar appeared in Translate.Ru/Dictionary. Translate.Ru has expanded the database of translation examples, improved the user interface, improved artificial intelligence and much more.

The updates also affected mobile applications: in versions for iOS and Android, a long-awaited photo translation option has appeared, which in the PROMT Offline version works in recognition and translation mode without an Internet connection. Mobile apps for iOS are now available on Apple Watch.

2016 was marked by the company's participation in two major conferences. The presentation of the PROMT Analyser product and the report on current developments for Big Data took place at the Moscow conference CNews in March, and at the April conference of the Bank Review magazine, a PROMT representative spoke about the advantages of the new product for the banking segment.

2011-2015

1999: PROMT Internet Translation Server launch

PROMT releases new translation directions: from English to German and Spanish and back, as well as from Spanish to Russian.

The first client of the PROMT Internet Translation Server (PITS) Internet solution in Russia was one of the most popular search servers - www.aport.ru.

1998: Translation of products into PROMT brand, launch of Translate.ru

PROMT returns to the original name of its product line and begins to produce translation systems under the PROMT trademark.

Sales of a new generation of MP systems called PROMT 98 (in Russian localization) and PROjectMT 98 (on the international market) begin. The following products have been released:

  • PROMT 98 - professional solution for translation,
  • WebTransite is an inexpensive translator for Internet users,
  • PROMT for Macintosh - translator for Macintosh users,
  • Pocket PROMT is a translator for handheld computers.

PROMT LINGVO Office is a joint product of PROMT and. The ABBYY product combines the PROMT translation system and OCR the -system, FineReader which allows you to use the product to translate documents "from the sheet."

PROMT releases a new line of corporate products: PROMT Intranet Server - a solution for translation in large corporations and government organizations and PROMT Internet Translation Server (PITS), developed for online translation on the Internet.

PROMT produces Italian-Russian translation direction.

The translate.ru website begins its work, on which users can receive a free translation service.

PROMT produces the first translation systems without the Russian language - German-French-French and Anglo-French-English translation systems.

1997: Update of the architecture of construction of translation systems

PROMT switches to a new architecture for building translation systems, which allows you to combine any number of translation directions under one shell. The new technology of "building" systems also allows you to create new programs from several different modules, as easily as children build houses from cubes.

1995-1996: Third Windows version of STYLUS 95/NT

The third generation of new 32-bit STYLUS systems for Windows 95/NT has been released. The system includes all the advantages of the new Windows 95 operating system.

For the first time, PROMT offered the integration of its programs with office applications Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

1994: Integration with Microsoft Word

PROMT releases the second version of STYLUS translation system for Windows. This version preserves formatting during translation and can be integrated into Microsoft Word.

Together with ABBYY (formerly Bit company) PROMT produces STYLUS Lingvo Office, which includes translation system and OCR system.

The list of available translation directions is expanded by the Russian-French direction.

1993: First Windows system

At the software exhibition WindowsExpo-93 PROMT presents the first English-Russian translation system for Windows.

The number of available translation directions has been increased. Now STYLUS translates from English, German, French into Russian and from Russian into English and German.

1992: STYLUS product line launch, NASA bid win

PROMT produces a line of products under the brand name STYLUS. These programs provide a coherent translation of texts from English into Russian and vice versa. The first users of machine translators are businessmen, programmers and employees of the aerospace industry.

The translation system is a resounding success in the market and for several years the word STYLUS becomes synonymous with the translator program.

Translation programs have been released for translation from German and French into Russian. All software runs on the Microsoft DOS operating system.

PROMT wins the NASA tender for the supply of machine translation systems from English to Russian.

1991: The first machine translation system called PROMT was released

The start of PROMT was laid by employees of the Laboratory of Engineering Linguistics at the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. A.I. Herzen under the guidance of Professor R. G. Piotrovsky. In 1989, together with the beginning of the cooperative movement and with the advent of personal computers on the market, a small team led by Svetlana Sokolova began to create the very first commercial systems.

In early 1991, PROMT was registered, headed by Svetlana Sokolova. Many years of research experience and accumulated knowledge ensured a successful start to the business in the field of machine processing of natural languages.

Awards

In 2019, PROMT won the 2018 Project of the Year award organized by Global CIO. The company won the nomination "The best mobile solution for the transport industry" by introducing the PROMT application for the Federal Passenger Company.

In 2018, PROMT Translation Server became a finalist in the nomination "The best information and analytical solution for the examination of legally significant documents" in the framework of the competition "The best information and analytical tools-2017" from the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation.

In 2017, PROMT Translation Server was recognized as the laureate of the competition "Russian Software: Achievements and Innovations-2016." In the same year: PROMT Analyzer SDK became a finalist in the nomination "The best information and analytical solution for processing unstructured data" in the framework of the competition "The best information and analytical tools - 2016" from the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, and also received a special prize from the Association of Software Developers "Domestic Software."

In 2016, PROMT products became laureates in two nominations at once - "Mobile Applications" and "Office Management" - at the prestigious German Innovationspreis-IT competition in Karlsruhe.

1999: For the high quality of translation and, as stated in the review "for the performance, education and diplomatic subtlety," the translation system developed by the company was awarded the "Choice of Editors" award of PC Expert magazine (France).

1998: PROMT is officially recognized as one of the 100 most professional companies in the Russian computer business (top 100) from 1993 to 1998.
