Open virtual fitting rooms in stores
TSUM, one of the leading department stores in Russia, began introducing virtual fitting rooms in its stores and points of issue of orders (PVZ). This became known in early July 2024.
The first virtual fitting room has already opened in the Moscow flagship store on Petrovka, and in the near future a similar service will appear in Kazan, a company representative said. In the future, all 17 TSUM PVZs across the country will be equipped with this technology.
The project aims to increase sales and convenience for customers. Virtual fitting rooms will allow customers to try on clothes without leaving the store, which will reduce purchase time and increase the likelihood of making a purchase. In Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Samara, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk, customers will be able to use the new service in the coming months.
As an employee of the personnel department of the Central Department Store noted, the company is actively looking for coordinator stylists to work with virtual fitting rooms. Their tasks include helping customers pick up items and create images, advising on assortment and maintaining fitting and shopping statistics. Stylists will receive a percentage of sales for things purchased through virtual fitting rooms.
Global retailers began introducing virtual fitting rooms a few years ago. Nike Gucci and one of the first to add them to their online stores in 2019., Walmart the largest retail chain in the world, bought startup Zeekit in 2021 to develop this technology and integrate it into its stores. From 2022 Amazon , it also offers its customers the possibility of virtual fitting.
In Russia, such technologies have not yet become widespread. In 2023, the Lamoda Marketplace announced the launch of a virtual fitting room, but the project has not yet received significant development. A company spokesman said that a restart of this service is planned soon. In May 2024, retailer Gloria Jeans began installing virtual fitting rooms in its new Ready ! Steady! Go!, with the aim of making shopping more attractive to young people.[2]
