2024: Wildberries set up new company to build warehouses

Wildberries created a subsidiary to which the projects for the construction of logistics facilities, previously under the jurisdiction of WB Development, were transferred. This became known in September 2024. The new structure, 100% controlled by Wildberries, will complete all ongoing warehouse construction projects, which is a key step for the company in ensuring the stable development of its logistics network.

According to RIA Novosti, the decision to transfer construction to a new subsidiary was made after VB Development ceased to fulfill its obligations to build facilities. The main problems faced by the company are related to non-fulfillment of obligations to subcontractors. Now Wildberries plans to renegotiate all contracts with contractors through a new structure to ensure construction is completed on time. The company representative stressed that for Wildberries, the priority is the timely completion of all construction projects, as this directly affects the development of the business of sellers using the platform.

Wildberries has created a subsidiary to build warehouses

Earlier, the press service of the combined company Wildberries and Russ reported that WB Development faced accounts payable to the parent company in the amount of over ₽30 billion. This was due to the untimely fulfillment of obligations for the construction of logistics centers and the need to pay advances to subcontractors. The founder of WB Development Vladislav Bakalchuk explained that the delays in payments to subcontractors and the stop of construction work were the result of the termination of funding from RVB LLC.

The situation with subcontractors turned out to be difficult: VB Development stopped interacting with them, which led to delays in construction. However, Wildberries management intends to rectify the situation through a new subsidiary, assuming obligations to pay subcontractors and restore construction progress.[1]
