Launch of partner sorting centers
In early December 2021, Wildberries launched a program for the development of partner sorting centers. They will be able to make money on the processing of other people's orders.
In partner sorting centers, acceptance, sorting, temporary storage and further shipment of goods will be carried out. The first three partner sorting centers have already been launched in Moscow by December 6, 2021, and several facilities in the Moscow region will open in the coming days. The company plans to open dozens of partner sorting centers in different regions of Russia.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, for each processed unit, the partner will be paid 4 rubles. In case of loss or damage to the goods, the partner will be obliged to compensate for the costs. By the beginning of December 2021, according to its own data, Wildberries in different regions has ten large warehouse complexes and about 100 additional sorting centers with a total area of 720,000 square meters. m
The director of the fulfillment operator Reworker Aleksei Zhukov believes that the new model of operation of sorting centers is the right direction for the development of the marketplace.
So Wildberries wants to unload its warehouse infrastructure. This should avoid situations where sellers' goods lie for months on key objects of the Internet site, he explains. |
Wildberries has the largest share of small sellers who often find it difficult to independently engage in logistics, which leads to complaints about queues in warehouses and difficult acceptance requirements, says Boris Ovchinnikov, partner at Data Insight. According to him, if the problem is partially solved through the transformation of experienced sellers of the marketplace into intermediaries who help less experienced in processing orders, then such a project may have prospects.[13]

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and founder, general director of the online store Wildberries (Vaildberriz LLC) Tatyana Bakalchuk signed a cooperation agreement. This was reported on August 15, 2019 by Wildberry.
The document provides for a comprehensive partnership between the Republic of Tatarstan and the country's online retailer, thanks to which new jobs will appear in the region, and small and medium-sized businesses will increase their sales in the dynamically growing online retail market. The term of the agreement is 5 years, it can be extended by decision of the parties.
The investment part of the document provides for the construction on the territory of TASED Zelenodolsk of a large distribution center Wildberries with an area of about 100 thousand square meters. m. Its opening will create about 5 thousand jobs in the region. Commissioning of the logistics complex is expected in the second half of 2020. Wildberries investments in the construction of the center will amount to about 5 billion rubles.
In Tatarstan, systematic work is underway to develop the e-commerce market. A large role in this development is played by such large e-trading companies as Wildberries. Thanks to this cooperation, we not only attract direct investments, but also take the next step in the development of the digital economy of the republic. To the same end, Tatarstan is developing a system for promoting local production products, expanding the number of innovative companies entering the local market and introducing new tools for the development of entrepreneurship. I am sure that the positive effect of this cooperation can be assessed very soon - it will be noticeable at all levels: from an individual entrepreneur to the economy of the republic as a whole, - said the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev. |
In accordance with the company's plans, a B2B center for expertise e-commerce Wildberries will also open in Tatarstan, combining logistics and educational functions for suppliers. In addition, Wildberries will continue to develop its own network of ordering points in the Republic.
2016: Opening of the first warehouse in the Moscow region
Wildberries built its first own warehouse near Moscow in 2016, having bought 25 hectares in the Koledino industrial park in the Podolsky district of the Moscow region. Knight Frank experts estimated the deal at 375 million rubles and the cost of building a warehouse with an area of 135 thousand square meters. m at 3.5 billion rubles. The company never explained why they chose this particular location. In August 2019, the warehouse was expanded by investing another 12.5 billion rubles.
Wildberries Development Director Vyacheslav Ivashchenko told The Bell in 2020 that investments in construction and installation work at two of Wildberries' own warehouses in Koledino in the Moscow Region (the largest complex in Russia, built for the own needs of one retailer. - Approx. The Bell) and in Zelenodolsk in Tatarstan, as well as at the opening of the points of issue of orders amounted to 8.2 billion rubles, excluding the cost of warehouse equipment and vehicles. In total, the company has 13 warehouses with a total area of 400 thousand square meters. m.
At the same time, The Bell interlocutors from other marketplaces give twice or triple the estimates, up to 30 billion rubles. According to one of them, only the Wildberries warehouse in Kazan was supposed to demand an investment of 5-6 billion rubles, of which half, according to his market colleagues, were taken on credit, half were financed from their own funds. Previously, only investments in the warehouse in Koledino were called at the level of 16 billion rubles (taking into account its expansion last year).
"Today, warehouses for marketplaces are built mainly according to the built-to-suit scheme, when the construction contractor builds a box for the needs of the company, and then it rents the built object," explains a top manager of a large marketplace. "As a result, the company has operating rental costs and lacks capex (the company's capital for the acquisition and modernization of physical assets), which allows not to take into account the construction costs, hence, probably, low estimates." The cost of equipment - conveyors, a sorter, car packers, and so on - depends on the level of automation, which, according to the interlocutor, Wildberries is not as high as, for example, Ozon.
The Bell interlocutor from a large marketplace described the economics of the order point (PVZ) as follows: launch costs, which usually include paying rent for the first month, repairing the premises, decorating it and buying equipment, range from 150 to 500 thousand rubles, then there are operating costs, that is, payroll, subsequent rent and administrative costs, such as consumables. The total amount of expenses depends on the location, in large cities in the center it reaches several million rubles, said an interlocutor from another marketplace. Thus, Wildberries' investments in the launch of a network of 7.5 thousand PVZs alone were supposed to amount to at least 1.5-2 billion rubles, could reach 4-5 billion rubles, and several billion more required their maintenance. Wildberries refused to name the cost of launching one PVZ, saying only that they are at an acceptable level for the company.
