2024: Russ bought Ether Transit
The federal group of companies Russ in September 2024 announced the purchase of the Kazan company Ether Transit LLC, the largest advertising operator in urban transport in the capital of Tatarstan. The transaction was completed as part of the expansion of Russ' presence in the regional advertising market. The new owner plans to upgrade advertising surfaces installed in the Kazan Metro and equip them with digital screens by the end of 2024.
Ether Transit was founded in 1998 and for many years was engaged in advertising on transport, including light boxes at Kazan metro stations. Before the transaction, the founders of the company were Gleb Grigoriev and Louise Safarova, who owned 50% of the stake. According to Russ, the new owner plans not only to modernize the advertising infrastructure, but also to improve the coverage of advertising campaigns for local and federal brands promoting their services in Kazan.
According to Russ, before the deal, advertising boxes in the Kazan metro reached a significant audience. In 2023, more than 35.5 million passengers passed through the metro, which emphasizes the importance of this advertising channel for the city. The new owner expects to significantly increase revenues by digitizing advertising media and attracting large customers interested in strengthening their presence in the capital of Tatarstan.
By September 2024, the Russ Group is also engaged in advertising in the subways of Moscow and St. Petersburg and is the largest outdoor advertising operator in Russia. The purchase of Ether Transit opens up new opportunities for the group in regional markets. The company plans to expand advertising campaigns to other types of urban transport in Kazan, as well as the introduction of advanced digital technologies, which will significantly increase the effectiveness of advertising placements.[1]
