2020: Explosion during charging

At the beginning of September, 2020 in network there was video on which the Chinese electric vehicle exploded during charging. An incident occurred in the city of Sanming (China).

According to The Drive, after connection of the car to network, the owner noticed that from it smoke practically at once began to go. Independently it did not begin to take any actions and called firefighters. By the time of their arrival the electric car continued to be loaded also several seconds after firefighters directed a water jet to a back part of a body later, the vehicle exploded.

The Chinese electric vehicle blew up and flew on pieces during charging

The loaded hybrid of the Chinese BAIC brand, the BAW BJ7080B3D-SHEV model blew up. The car is equipped with the power unit which cornerstone the 40 hp petrol engine and of 0.8 liters is. Body panels of the electric car scattered extensively, parts destroyed a roof of a charging station. Cars which were at this time nearby did not suffer, the exploded vehicle is not subject to recovery.

It is technically feasible to extinguish ignition of the rechargeable battery of the electric vehicle enough water, but there is always a risk of repeated ignition in several hours or even days later. Due to rather frequent ignitions of electric vehicles, Tesla recommends to allow cars to burn down independently if they do not pose a threat for life or property.[1]
