In May, 2013 EMC announced implementation and use of the leading solutions EMC for backup and archiving release of a packet of EMC Data Protection Suite which simplifies acquisition, and at the same time provides to customers decrease in total cost of ownership and protection of investments into IT.

The packet of Data Protection Suite is a flexible option of use of advantages of the solutions EMC for backup and archiving which can change according to the changing customers needs. The simplified approach which is been its basis is implemented by means of flexible model of licensing which allows customers to mix and combine use of different products according to the requirements, providing at the same time decrease in total cost of ownership and protection of investments in IT.

The chance of flexible licensing is given to users by access to all opportunities, exempting them from need to buy and expand separate components of solutions. As transition of the organizations to the IT as Service model continues, it is also important to implement the "data protection as service" model in parallel. The architecture of EMC Protection Storage Architecture follows this direction of development.

This architecture:

• a) uses the consolidated storage of data protection as a repository of data;
• b) provides integration in all IT environment and
• c) together with the consolidated data management forms a method of providing the directory of services of data protection.

The packet of Data Protection Suite gives to customers the chance to freely create purchases on the basis of consumption patterns and deployment, thereby providing migration of their infrastructures of data protection for compliance to the changing requirements to backup and recovery, archiving and disaster recovery. It combines advantages of such solutions as EMC Avamar, EMC NetWorker, EMC Data Domain Boost, EMC Data Protection Advisor and EMC SourceOne.

In April, 2014 the new version of a packet of EMC Data Protection Suite in which absolutely new model of use of the software for data protection is realized was submitted. The products EMC Avamar, NetWorker, Data Protection Advisor, Mozy and SourceOne enter the packet of Data Protection Suite optimized for private, hybrid and public "cloud" environments.

The updated packet of Data Protection Suite includes a number of new features. This management of instant pictures for arrays of EMC Isilon, EMC VNX and NetApp that allows to protect data in NAS systems more reliably. Broad support of "cloud" infrastructures of VMware and Microsoft and also a full integration between Avamar and Data Domain is implemented that allows to take advantage of both platforms. Let's remind, EMC Avamar is a scalable system of data protection in "cloud", and a system works with all data types.

The product NetWorker serves for management of instant pictures for NAS systems. The possibility of transparent use of pictures, both administrators of storage systems, and administrators of backup is implemented. There is a function of autodetection and cataloguing of pictures and also their preserving on backup devices. Management of pictures happens on a centralized basis. The reporting on pictures and backup copies is prepared. Administrators of virtual environment can manage recovery. In NetWorker support of Microsoft Hyper-V is improved.

Besides, in a packet safety features are strengthened and support of Linux for public "clouds" of Mozy is for the first time implemented that is important for big customers. In this product data protection in "cloud" is improved. In particular, enciphering, support of management of corporate keys is implemented. Individual preferences provide compliance to requirements of HIPAA.

2016: EMC Data Protection Suite for VMware

On August 23, 2016 EMC provided the product EMC Data Protection Suite for VMware and the program of support which will help to optimize protection of loadings of VMware in all a range of an environment of VMware for the organization of universal security.

The company improved support of VMware Virtual SAN, VMware vSphere. An expanded set of options on data protection for VCE VxRail devices.

Integration between the solutions EMC on data protection and software of VMware allows virtual administrators (vAdmins) to select resources, to monitor changes and to manage protection of the virtual loadings by means of the standard VMware interface.

The upgraded version of EMC Data Protection Suite for VMware together with EMC Data Domain Virtual Edition provide to loadings VMware simple, fast and effective protection, ensuring permanent and comprehensive safety from the native VMware interface. At the same time support by the solution RecoverPoint for VMs VMware vSphere API of the I/O Filtering interface allows virtual administrators to manage replication of data through vSphere Storage Policy-Based Management (the policy of storages), using for this purpose the general environment of VMware.

Users of VCE VxRail devices can expand the built-in potential of protection of a system now and apply broader spectrum of the solutions EMC on data security provision, integrity of backup copies of applications, full monitoring, the reporting and a search capability of files in backup copies. As VCE VxRail devices work at the Virtual SAN platform, they can be used together with EMC Data Protection Suite for VM and EMC Data Domain Virtual Edition.

The solution allows to recover data and to provide their permanent protection in crucial applications, including Oracle, SAP, DB2 and other systems.

Use of the products EMC Data Protection Suite for VMware and EMC Data Domain Virtual Edition, the corporation EMC extends protection to the virtual machines working on devices VxRail.

On April 4, 2014 EMC announced the new concept implemented in the updated packet of EMC Data Protection Suite where absolutely new model of use of software for data protection is supposed.

In the new concept the integrated products flexibly are used for optimization of local and cloud environments of backup of archiving in process of their development.

The new release of a packet of Data Protection Suite includes new features:

• management of instant pictures for EMC Isilon arrays,
• EMC VNX

broad support of cloud infrastructures of VMware and Microsoft at the expense of unique opportunities of integration with VMware vCloud Suite and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager;

• the full integration between Avamar and Data Domain allowing to take advantage of both platforms;
• the strengthened safety features and for the first time the implemented support of Linux for public clouds of Mozy which facilitate implementation in corporate environments.
