2020: Ioniq start - a brand for release of electric vehicles from Hyundai

On August 9, 2020 Hyundai announced start of the Ioniq subbrand under which electric vehicles will be developed and on sale. It is about creation of separate division by means of which the South Korean producer will master the new market. According to the similar scenario of Hyundai develops the Genesis subbrand focused on a bonus segment.

Within four years of Hyundai she intends to release the electric vehicles Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7. Under odd indexes crossovers, under even — models with a passenger form factor will be on sale.

Ioniq 5 — the midsize crossover based on the Hyundai 45 EV concept car shown in September, 2019 will become the first innovation. This electric vehicle will enter the market at the beginning of 2021.

Ioniq 5 in 2022 will be followed by the Ioniq 6 sedan based on the concept of Hyundai Prophecy debuting in 2020. The third model of the electric vehicle, Ioniq 7, will appear in 2024.
