2024: Acquisition of 100% of the Botsman Platform by Astra Group

Astra Group on December 5, 2024 informed TAdviser about the purchase of the domestic software developer Platform Botsman LLC from Smart Group (Smart technologies Soft and Smart technologies), thus continuing to implement its M&A strategy. As a result of the transaction, Astra Group will receive 100% of the acquired company. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With the acquisition of Platfora Botsman, Astra Group has replenished its product line with a containerization platform of the same name, due to which it expects to strengthen not only the direction of containerization, but also the cloud business and software development tools.

The platform development team "Botsman" has grown from Smart Technologies Soft to an independent company, Platform Botsman, whose CEO is Alexey Potapov, who previously served as Commercial Director of Smart Technologies Soft. The containerization platform has passed test tests and as of December 5, 2024 is already included in (register of domestic software Ministry of Digital Development record No. 21339 of 08.02.2024).

According to the developers, the platform is aimed at large corporate customers and has many complex application scenarios. These include building multi-tenant clusters, providing hardware support, working with application services, creating information security solutions for Enterprise that meet high regulatory requirements for information protection. The product has functionality for building private clouds, deploying, monitoring, balancing and automascaling container loads, supports strict security policies, assumes the possibility of moving from monolithic architectures to microservices and the development of new modern applications for digitalization of companies.

One of the tasks of the "Botsman Platform" is the integration of the "Botsman" software with Nodus - the own development of the "Astra Group" for managing containerization. The combined product should be an integrated solution for containerization, combining the capabilities of Botsman with deep integration with Nodus and embedded in OCAstra Linux IPS. Nodus will become the core of the new platform, and Botsman will provide management, orchestration and support for applied services. In addition, the vendor plans to integrate Botsman with Astra Cloud and Astra Infrastructure Cloud cloud solutions, as well as strengthen software development. As a result, customers and developers are expected to receive tools for creating software based on containers and microservices. Since both Astra Group and Botsman have already done a lot of work to develop an ecosystem of hardware compatible with their software, in the future the teams intend to build PACS for various tasks and complex scenarios, from data management to applications based on flexible, scalable and secure containerization.

In his opinion, the inclusion of the Botsman Platforms group in the contour will strengthen Astra Group's product portfolio with an up-to-date proposal for containerization, software development and cloud services.
