2025: Lenta bought Mall, an emerging chain of Lightning and Spar stores
The Lenta retailer acquired Moll LLC, which manages the Molniya retail chain in the Chelyabinsk region. The deal includes 72 stores of various formats and three distribution centers. This was reported by the press service of Lenta on June 26, 2025.
According to the retailer's press service, five hypermarkets, 18 supermarkets and 49 stores near the house operating under the Spar brand were included in the deal perimeter. The acquired retail chain generated revenue of ₽20,6 billion for 2024 with a total retail area of over 60,000 square meters.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. Financing is carried out at the expense of the buyer's own funds. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has already granted permission to complete the transaction.
The acquisition of Lightning strengthens Lenta's position in the Central Ural market. The purchased network ranks fifth in terms of revenue among retailers in the Chelyabinsk region. The company has stores in high traffic areas both in the regional center and in other large cities of the region.
The deal became part of Lenta's transformation strategy into a multi-format player in Russian retail. The acquisition should accelerate the company's goal of reaching revenue of ₽1 trillion by the end of 2025.
"Lightning" has been operating on the market since 1998 and attracts buyers with a high-quality service and a local assortment. The chain operates stores of three formats, in each of which Lenta sees the potential to improve profitability and development.
Stores will be under the control of the relevant Lenta divisions according to formats. Existing staff will retain jobs and continue to apply successful regional work practices.
Integration of distribution centers with Lenta's logistics infrastructure should improve delivery efficiency and reduce operating costs. This will create opportunities to lower prices for end consumers.[1]
