2026: Sistema-Sarov ITC JSC bought Yakhont DSS
In mid-March 2026, it became known that the Sistema-Sarov Innovation Technological Center (Sistema-Sarov ITC JSC) acquired a 60 percent stake in the manufacturer of data storage systems, Yakhont LLC. Information on the value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Sistema-Sarov ITC belongs to the Radio Engineering and Information Systems (RTI Group) concern. It carries out scientific, technical and production activities in such industries as radio engineering and missile technology, integrated communication and security systems, driving equipment, etc.
In turn, Yakhont is a joint venture between Norsi-Trans and AFK Sistema, founded in 2019. The company specializes in the supply of domestic DSS. The assortment, in particular, includes the Yakhont-UVM systems created on the Russian eight-core Elbrus processor.
| As part of supporting the state course on import substitution and the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation," Yakhont LLC supplies DSS from Russian and localized components corresponding to 719 CCI of the Russian Federation, the company's website says. |
According to CNews, as part of the transaction, ITC Sistema-Sarov bought the share of Yakhont from the VZPP Micron enterprise, which is part of the Element microelectronic group (engaged in the production of a component base for microelectronics and power electronics). The remaining 40% in the structure of Yakhont belongs to Norsi-Trans CJSC (supplies hardware and software solutions in the field of information security systems, network monitoring, analytical complexes and platforms for business analytics). Nothing is said about the plans for the further development of the Yakhont business - the parties do not give comments on this issue as of mid-March 2026.[1]
2019: Building a company
On January 24, 2020, it became known about the creation of Yakhont LLC, a joint venture of the equipment supplier for the implementation of the Yarovaya Law, Norsi-Trans and Element (the structure of AFK Sistema and Rostec).
As the general director of Norsi-Trans Sergei Ovchinnikov told Kommersant, Yakhont received a license to produce equipment for fulfilling the requirements of the Yarovaya Law - Yakhont-UVM DSS.
The new company was established back in September 2019. 60% in it received "Element," 40% - "Norsi-Trans." At first, it will work as a project office. It will take about a year to establish production. Norsi-Trans will earn a license on the transfer of the joint venture, but the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The decision to attract partners in Norsi-Trans was explained by a government decree, according to which from 2021 domestic data storage systems should be created only on Russian processors.
Earlier, Norsi-Trans began supplying equipment for the implementation of the Spring Law to MTS and MGTS operators (part of AFK Sistema). In total, they delivered about 2 thousand Yakhont-UVM complexes, Sergei Ovchinnikov said. According to him, the joint venture has become a new format of cooperation, in which Yakhont will be engaged in the production of Yakhont-UVM for MTS and MGTS.
Norsi-Trans is not able to single-handedly bring the solution to the wide market in a short time, and the participation of AFK Sistema will allow the company to increase the scale of production almost one step by an order of magnitude, said Ivan Pokrovsky, executive director of the Association of Russian Developers and Electronics Manufacturers.
| For AFK Sistema, this is also not some unique situation. Large corporations, for reasons related to reducing the time to market, prefer to acquire a company than to develop solutions in-house and overcome bureaucratic difficulties, he added.[2] |
