RuPost 3.0 can be safely called the latest generation mail. Even when preparing the first cluster edition more than a year ago, we already planned this development concept and corresponding architectural solutions. Now they have received a real embodiment, - said Sergey Orlik, director of products and technologies at RuPost. - Throughout the development of RuPost, we carefully analyze the history of the development of Microsoft Exchange, the peculiarities of its behavior and "bottlenecks" in critical scenarios, for example, in case of failure of various infrastructure services. Practical experience in the real operation of Exchange made it possible to offer a qualitatively new alternative to Exchange, based, among other things, on the use of native Linux tools and mechanisms,

Compatibility with Docsvision EDMS

The companies RuPost"" (included in Astra Group"") and Docsvision"" on July 5, 2024 announced the beginning of a technological partnership and the integration IT of -products implemented by customers. As a result of the compatibility of the two systems, enterprise employees can receive notifications about tasks and familiarization documents that have been sent to them from the system by corporate mail and electronic document management Docsvision complete tasks in the mail interface.

If earlier almost 100% of Russian enterprises used Microsoft Exchange as a mail server, then with an increase in the trend for import substitution, companies choose other solutions for organizing the mail service. The flexibility embedded in the architecture of the Docsvision platform allows you to support integration with the new mail server almost on the fly, which means that the company can maintain the usual business processes in the new technology stack.

Most Docsvision customers use the ability to deliver important notifications to employees in the form of mail messages about tasks or documents in the EDMS, as well as perform coordination actions, etc., directly from the mail message without opening the Docsvision client. In many organizations, this integration component of the Docsvision platform is responsible for the mass delivery of familiarization orders and supports a work scenario where employees complete processes launched in the EDMS from a mail client.

RuPost's mail server has already proven itself to be easy to deploy. The product includes a graphical tool for migrating user data from Microsoft Exchange, which simplifies the transition to a new solution. The desktop application includes all the usual tools for efficient work: mail, calendars, address books, tasks, search and filtering letters.

File:Aquote1.png
In cooperation with RuPost, we supported the joint work of two solutions within the framework of the system development project at one of our customers. As a result, our clients can work within the framework of their usual business processes in a completely import-independent stack, - commented Olga Trachuk, head of the Docsvision service department.

RuPost 2.7.1 with an improved interface for viewing logs

The company RuPost"" (included in Astra Group"") May 16, 2024 announced the release of an updated version of the corporate mail server RuPost 2.7.1. This release includes improvements to version 2.7 in reliability, resiliency, deployment acceleration and manageability, as well as several operational updates made to optimize system performance and an updated Migration Tool.

To strengthen reliability, the healthcheck service, which is responsible for monitoring the health of the mail components of the RuPost cluster, has been improved. It consists of two contours - outer and inner. The external loop redirects connection requests to other, "healthy" nodes when problems are detected in one of the cluster instances. The inner loop checks the running status of the mail components of each cluster node. When a failure is detected, three reboots are attempted with status check. If the operability after them has not recovered, then the failed copy is decommissioned. This facilitates the work of the administration and maintenance specialists, allows customers to minimize losses associated with the downtime of the postal infrastructure.

The RuPost deployment process has become faster and more convenient. If you have a master configuration, you can automatically put a new server into operation. After the initial installation, the Quick Setup menu is added to the RuPost Control Panel. It provides step-by-step navigation through individual pages of the Control Panel and contains the minimum necessary set of actions to start the e-mail server. After the initial configuration is complete, the Quick Setup is automatically hidden, but you can disable it if necessary.

In this version of RuPost, an alert system is implemented that informs administrators about critical events and important changes in the system. The interface for viewing logs has also been improved: the "Control Panel" now includes the function of viewing system logs of mail components, which allows administrators to easily track and analyze operations in real time.

Among the operational updates implemented in version 2.7.1, it should be noted the optimization of the algorithm for registering a RuPost instance in the database during installation, as well as improving the autostart and checking the state of the node in large and distributed RuPost clusters.

Simultaneously with RuPost 2.7.1, an updated version of the migration tool from Microsoft Exchange to RuPost - Migration Tool 2.7 was released. Now it allows you to transfer your account from Microsoft Exchange without interrupting your mail. A migration script from Microsoft Exchange and Active Directiory to RuPost and the ALD Pro directory service using the same mail domain was also developed and tested.

{{quote 'RuPost continues to evolve to meet the growing needs of today's business for reliable and functional enterprise mail solutions. Added features and improvements will help customers keep their email infrastructure running smoothly and improve administration efficiency. The task of import substitution of foreign postal solutions is still relevant for many organizations. Our technologies make migration almost seamless, "said Mikhail Gellerman, CEO of RuPost. }}

RuPost 2.6 with added Monitoring page

On March 12, 2024, RuPost (part of Astra Group) announced the release of an updated version of the RuPost 2.6 corporate mail server. The developers have implemented many functions, thanks to which the product has become more productive and easy to administer.

RuPost's graphical controls now include a "Monitoring" page with visualization of key features of the mail server and infrastructure services. This allows you to see the status of mail components and infrastructure services, load distribution among the nodes of the mail cluster, the number of letters in the most populated boxes, view the current state of send queues, etc. This section greatly simplifies mail management and enhances the competitive advantages of RuPost.

Another important improvement is associated with improved performance and resource utilization: IMAP users are now distributed to cluster nodes based on their workload. This approach replaced the round robin algorithm - the cyclical provision of resources without prioritization.

It will now be easier for administrators to work with distribution lists, and you no longer need to stop server components and re-deploy the configuration to add new groups.

RuPost 2.6 has improved logging (logging) mechanisms, which is important for diagnosing and troubleshooting infrastructure bottlenecks and problems to ensure mail security, stability and efficiency. Log collection is required for ongoing monitoring, analysis of past events and investigation of incidents. The current version of the product has functionality for accumulating information from all instances of RuPost. To get the logs of all mail components from all instances in a clustered configuration, now it is enough to connect to only one of them.

Other changes include the visual tools of the RuPost control panel for adding security certificates (previously the command line was used for this), the ability to install and update from one of the cluster nodes to all at once, sorting mailboxes in a table in the Control Panel, and a number of other changes and improvements.

File:Aquote1.png
By developing RuPost, we try to maximize both the convenience and efficiency of the product - added monitoring functions, visual administration tools, resource allocation optimization and other opportunities appear in the process of carefully studying the client experience. Feedback from customers reflects the real needs of the market, and, focusing on it, we create the highest quality and demanded product in our segment, "said Sergey Orlik, Director of Products and Technologies at RuPost.

RuPost 2.5 with Astra Linux Special Edition support

The company RuPost"" (included in Astra Group"") on November 28, 2023 announced the release of RuPost 2.5 - an updated version of the corporate, mail server compatible OS Astra Linux Special Edition with and intended for organizations of any scale.

The developers have implemented many innovations and improved the existing functionality of the product. The mail server administration model has been improved: now the level of authority that administrators receive depends on the roles assigned to them. Each of them implies its own set of allowed actions from the minimum necessary to the full. For example, a super administrator can perform any kind of transaction, including managing mailboxes and licenses.

Roles can be assigned when installing the product, as well as independently create and edit through the control panel of the mail server. Thus, the proportion of errors or the likelihood of malicious actions of privileged users (administrators) is reduced. For the same purpose, the mechanisms for collecting and exporting logs in all components of the system were improved.

The control panel itself has added tools with which you can set rules for processing letters. It became possible to prevent the receipt of messages containing attachments with certain extensions in order to minimize the number. phishing attacks

RuPost 2.5 has updated the mail server installation mechanism. Along with the standard deb package, there is now an interactive run installer that includes not only the deb package, but also the installation wizard, which speeds up both the installation of the product from scratch and the update of its version. In addition, the set of infrastructure services that are checked during installation has expanded.

RuPost 2.5 has support for the POP3 protocol in a secure version of the POP3S, which uses enciphering SSL or, TLS thanks to which it is impossible to intercept and read user letters. POP3S support can be enabled and disabled in the system settings.

On the Mailboxes page, you can now see how much e-mail is in the mailbox, its volume, and how much of the available space they take up. If the box is empty, the indication will be gray, and if it is more than 95% full, it will be red, and the administrator can easily assess how full this or that user account is.

The developers are positioning the RuPost corporate mail server as a full-fledged replacement for Microsoft Exchange and other foreign products. It includes a special tool for automated migration with Microsoft. In release 2.5, this tool was equipped with a web interface that allows you to visually configure, start and control the migration of mailboxes, calendars and address books from Microsoft Exchange to RuPost. The updated functionality can significantly speed up and facilitate the import substitution of corporate mail systems - this task today has to be solved by many organizations.

File:Aquote1.png
We have prepared many innovations based on the requests and wishes of our users. One of the key improvements was the implementation of a role and rights system for administrators, which makes corporate mail management more flexible and predictable. Updated rules for filtering and processing emails will help reduce the flow of spam and increase information security. Functions are no less important to simplify the import substitution process, this is relevant for many customers. The developers do not stand still and try to offer an effective, functional, reliable and safe tool for working with corporate mail that meets the high requirements of our customers and the norms of law, - said Mikhail Gellerman, CEO of RuPost.
File:Aquote2.png

File:Aquote1.png
RuPost 2.5 is another step in the development of the Russian corporate mail server. Our team develops the clustered capabilities of the product taking into account the disadvantages of Exchange that can only be solved at the architectural level. Parallelizing the operation of different nodes of the RuPost cluster with the same mailbox storage space provides a higher degree of availability than in Exchange, where only one server works with the mail database and many mail databases have to be created. The ability to use various industrial solutions for cluster storage of information allows you to better adapt to the customer's infrastructure. The simplicity and flexibility of RuPost installation and new visual tools for migrating from Exchange make it easy to switch to domestic software. RuPost Mail Server combined with RuPost Desktop Desktop Clients and WorksPad Secure Mobile Workplaces gives our customers a truly holistic and fully functional enterprise-class email solution, "said Sergey Orlik, Director of Products and Technologies at RuPost.

RuPost 2.2

On July 20, 2023, RuPost (part of Astra Group of Companies) announced the release of an updated version of the RuPost 2.2 corporate mail server. The product is included in the register of the Ministry of Digital Development Science and, according to TAdviser, is included in the roadmap "Employee's Digital Workplace."

RuPost 2.2
File:Aquote1.png
Version 2.2 was a significant milestone in the history of RuPost: in fact, we completed the first stage of the development of key technologies. Our solution is fundamentally different from many others, which use a complex of open components. Most of them are either built using containerization, or are adaptations of system-wide controls and their combinations. However, neither containerization nor Ansible-class management platforms reflect the specifics and logic of mail systems, which in themselves in the industry make up an entire segment. We have developed and implemented such an architecture for managing our own and open mail components, which not only hides the complexity of their configuration and interaction under the hood, but also makes our system easily scalable and "tenacious" due to the built-in clustering and self-diagnostics mechanisms.

told Sergey Orlik, Director of Products and Technologies at RuPost
File:Aquote2.png

The RuPost 2.0 Enterprise version, released in the winter of 2023, for the first time made it possible to build an Active-Active mail cluster with a virtually unlimited number of nodes and using load balancing tools at the infrastructure level. RuPost 2.1, released in May 2023, introduced built-in balancing tools with support for the Proxy v2 protocol, and the latest release 2.2 not only has already proven fault tolerance mechanisms, but also optimizes the effectiveness of integrated self-diagnostics tools. Now you can identify changes made to the configuration files of mail and service components bypassing the management system and not only log these facts, but also determine a strategy for responding to them: from notifying the administrator to stopping the cluster nodes affected by the intervention.

RuPost 2.2

Automatically take system instances out of the cluster, put other instances into service without interruption, continuously monitor the survivability of all solution components on all nodes - all this makes RuPost suitable for organizations of all sizes and areas of activity.

The results of the extended load testing of RuPost 2.2 confirmed the correctness of the selected cluster architecture, which provides control of both horizontal and vertical scalability: with an increase in the number of its nodes, more than 250 thousand users can be served, and the configuration of one node will remain rational. For example, with an average load of 100 thousand users, 3 nodes with 6 CPU and 16 GB RAM are needed, and for 250 thousand - 8. It is important that adding nodes to a running cluster dynamically increases its capacity as the number of mailboxes served grows. The resources of a node with 6 CPU and 16 GB RAM are enough for vertical scalability by 40-50% only due to an increase in processor capacity on the database (minimum - 16 CPU, recommended - 32 CPU). Thus, dynamic control of horizontal and vertical scalability will optimize equipment costs not only at the beginning, but also during the operation of the RuPost cluster.

RuPost 2.2

Changes supported by team and visual tools also included static and dynamic mailing lists, the ability to use, including repeated, LDAP-filters - for example, for dynamic mailing lists, calendar resource management and an updated version of the unified corporate address book for all connected directory services, accumulating significant information information about contacts. In addition, the developers retained the control panel interface familiar to users and at the same time transferred it to the implementation technology, which allows you to quickly develop its functionality and increase the degree of convenience.

Together with RuPost 2.2, for July 2023, updated versions of the tools for migration from Microsoft Exchange RuPost Migration Tool and the RuPost Plugin extension for Microsoft Outlook are released with support for CalDAV and CardDAV protocols for working with calendars, tasks, contacts and address book. RuPost Plugin becomes public, and during the transition to RuPost it can be used with other mail servers.

File:Aquote1.png
The software stack, which includes enterprise SuperApp WorksPad, RuPost server, PORuPost Desktop and RuPost Plugin for Outlook, makes leaving Microsoft solutions comfortable for users: this product line provides a complete set of features to import mail substitution.

In June 2023, the product was included in the TAdviser card "Employee Digital Workplace 2023."

Scale without restrictions and other relevant functionality for large and small companies

On February 27, 2023, RuPost (Astra Group of Companies) announced the release of the RuPost 2.0 corporate mail management system, adapted for heavy loads. Developers have significantly increased the capabilities of the solution and implemented many improvements, including critical for large customers. One of the most significant updates is support for a cluster with different levels of balancing, including "smart balancing" taking into account the load of nodes and the binding of users by cluster nodes. This release has expanded the set of built-in configuration templates and the ability to create and add your own (custom) templates to support the operation of the mail server in specific or heterogeneous customer infrastructures.

The updated version of RuPost expands the capabilities of managing resource boxes with support for auto-reservation, and the expansion of the command interface (CLI) functionality for automating routine operations and fine-tuning the system continues. In addition, the version of the plugin for Microsoft Outlook has been updated, designed to work with calendars, tasks, contacts and the corporate address book.

Transferring data mailboxes Microsoft Exchange Server from to mail server RuPost has become more convenient due to the fact that the RuPost Migration Tool has appeared. At the same time Microsoft Exchange , coexistence with one mailbox is supported domain during the migration process, which is especially important for customer organizations with a large number of mailboxes.

The product has two editions: Standard  and Enterprise, and the availability of this or that functionality is determined by the selected license. The changes also affected the licensing model: now the customer pays only for client licenses, and the number of servers that are free-standing or included in the failover cluster can be any.

File:Aquote1.png
The RuPost development team always strives to ensure that it ON meets the needs of customers of any scale to the maximum. Many large companies are switching to, and a import-independent technologies number of important changes have been promptly made that will make working with the product more comfortable and efficient. The company is open for feedback and is ready to implement pilot projects for customers so that they can in practice be convinced of the quality and convenience of RuPost 2.0.0,
told Sergey Orlik, Director of Products and Technologies of RuPost, Astra Group of Companies.
