Huawei started selling laptops on Linux due to US sanctions

Deepin Linux is being developed mainly by developers from China, which raises some suspicions about Huawei. However, like many Linux distributions, Deepin Linux is open source, so users will always be able to check any suspicious component of the operating system.

According to Chinese media, Huawei is conducting "long-term adaptation work" with the developers of the Deepin Linux distribution, so the introduction of this OS did not happen spontaneously. It is assumed that in the future this option will replace Windows at least in the home market - before the release of new global models with HarmonyOS.

As for the technical characteristics of laptops running Linux, they are practically no different from a Windows device with one exception - there is no button with the Windows OS logo on the keyboard, it has been replaced with the Start key, which opens the start menu in Linux.

In addition, the use of Linux logically led to a decrease in the cost of mobile PCs. For example, the price of the Matebook 13 and Matebook 14 decreased by about $42, while the Honor MagicBook Pro fell by $84.

Like the previous generation model, the presented device is equipped with an IPS display with a diagonal of 13 inches and a resolution of 2160×1440 pixels. The 200 PPI dot density matrix has wide viewing angles of 178 ° and plays 100% of the sRGB palette at 350 nits brightness and a maximum contrast ratio of 1000:1. The touchscreen version has Corning Gorilla protective glass, Huawei stressed.

The dimensions of the updated MateBook 13 model are 286×211 mm with a thickness of 14.9 mm and a weight of about 1.3 kg. The model comes in pink gold, space gray and mystical silver.

Matebook E 2019 - the first Huawei laptop with an ARM processor
