2020: A response in Russia because of the rejected software

On May 6, 2020 the automatic system of emergency brake application (AEB) knew of a withdrawal of 9837 Volvo cars because of the faulty software in a system.

According to Federal Agency for Technical Regulation of Metrology (Rosstandart), under a service campaign the Volvo S60, V60CC, S90, V90CC, XC40, XC60, XC90 models produced in 2019-2020 got.

In these machines Volvo program fault of a system of automatic braking is revealed. Because of it in some situations she  does not detect an obstacle and  is not activated when it is necessary.  In emergency situation when the driver can be inattentive or will not react to the coming obstacles, failure in AEB can increase danger of collision, noted in Rosstandart.

Worldwide because of this problem of Volvo recalls 736,430 cars. The company specified that by May 6, 2020 it is unknown of one accident with victims which happened because of failure in system operation of AEB.

For elimination of a malfunction official dealers of Volvo will carry out updating of software of the electronic assistant to the driver. Owners of cars will not pay for repair of the recalled machines.

Motorists can independently, without waiting for the message of the authorized dealer, to define whether their vehicle falls under a response. For this purpose it is necessary to compare the VIN code of own car with the enclosed list (the file in the Documents tab), or to use interactive search (easy.gost.ru).

Besides, it is possible to learn about existence of the car in the revocable program using special  service  on the website Auto.ru (the project of "Yandex"). The original informatin for placement on this service is transferred by Rosstandart within the relevant agreement.[1]

2019: Announcement of the electric version of XC40 Recharge

October 16, 2019 Provided to Volvo the XC40 Recharge crossover which became the first completely electric car under the name of the Swedish company.

Innovation has the 408 horsepowers power unit and a torsional moment the 660th newton-meters. Capacity of a set of rechargeable batteries is 78  kilowatt-hours. The stock of the course of the machine is stated at the level of 400 km on  the cycle WLTP.

Use of a modular complex of security systems of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) became one more innovation in a line of Volvo.  It consists of several radars, cameras and  ultrasonic sensors. It is supposed that ADAS will become a basis for a full-fledged auto pilot.

The beginning of sales of Volvo XC40 Recharge it is planned for 2020. Exact date of an exit and cost of the electric vehicle by October of the 2019th are unknown. The company promises to represent the new electric car every year.[2]
