To pick up the order, you need to go down to the robot and unlock the lock using a button in your smartphone. On average, delivery by a robot takes 11 minutes, by courier - 8 minutes. By May 2024, delivery of orders by Yandex robots is used by more than 200 stores and restaurants: for example, Tasty - and Point, ABC of Taste, Teremok, Shokoladnitsa, Burger King and Anderson.

The method of delivery by a robot is offered in the presence of a free device, in Yandex Eda it is a free service. The movement of the car can be tracked in the application to pick up the order, you need to press the "Open the lid" button.

As of the beginning of 2024, about 100 delivery robots were operating in Moscow. Another 20 worked in Innopolis, 10 in Murino, Leningrad Region, 5 at Rosa Khutor and Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. In 2024, their number is planned to double, to 260 copies.

According to Alexander Mutovin, co-founder of the Many Salmon company, the robot courier is rather a marketing ploy, and it is not suitable for routine daily work, because customers want to deliver the order to the door.[1]

The service is free, its area is limited to a radius of 2 km from the chosen restaurant to the recipient. Such delivery can be selected during checkout, and the robot will bring it to the specified place - for example, to the entrance to the hotel. Only the client himself can receive the order - he will be able to open the cargo compartment of the robot using the Food application. If all robots are busy, then customers will still be able to make orders - they will be delivered by couriers-partners of the service.

The Yandex delivery robot presents this autonomous device about half a meter high with six wheels, a cargo compartment and built-in sensors. He can work at any time of the year, moves along sidewalks at pedestrian speed, knows how to go around obstacles and passers-by. Robots deliver not only orders from restaurants, but also purchases from stores in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Innopolis. From the moment of launch to the beginning of June 2023, robots brought more than 160 thousand orders.

Autonomous robot couriers Yandex.Rovers by April 8, 2021 work in the Moscow district of Khamovniki. They deliver not only groceries from stores, but also food from restaurants.

Yandex.Rover carries up to 20 kilograms. It is on these robots that the company relies on so-called hyperlocal delivery - within a radius of several kilometers or even hundreds of meters from point to point. At longer distances, it is more profitable and faster to use ordinary couriers for the time being.

Yandex.Rover is a fully autonomous robot: it independently plans its route, assesses the situation around it and bypasses obstacles. It is capable of driving on city sidewalks at pedestrian speed, can work in summer and winter, carry small loads and fulfill orders in different weather conditions.

As noted by the publication "N + 1," the areas in which Yandex is testing its robots are united by a good infrastructure. In particular, in Moscow, they are tested in areas with smooth exits from the sidewalk to pedestrian crossings. At the same time, the Rover has a rigid chassis design, so it is not clear how it will deliver orders in residential areas with less developed infrastructure. Other companies, such as the American FedEx, solve this with an adaptive chassis that allows you to drive onto the sidewalks through the curb.

Until February 11, 2021, Yandex.Rover delivered orders only in Kazan Innopolis and near the Belaya Ploshchad business center near the Belorusskaya metro station.[2] [3]
