2018: Announcement

In Las Vegas  (on January 9-12, 2018) the Toyota company presented the platform for the pilotless electric vehicles E-Palette at an exhibition of consumer electronics. Partners of the Japanese producer will be able to use e-Palette for creation of motor transport used in own business objectives.

The electric minibus will be issued in three sizes from 4 to 7 meters long. It is supposed that such choice will help diggings to use possibilities of the scalable platform most effectively: depending on a task, the body installed on the UAV can perform function of the cargo or passenger module.

e-Palette

e-Palette can be without effort adapted to a different way of life and requirements. The CEO of Toyota Akio Toyoda calls this conceptual car the delivery system of floor spaces and restaurants there where they can be required — for example, on the outskirts of the city or at a festival in the desert.

Partners of Toyota in development of the E-Palette project the companies Amazon, DiDi Mazda, act as Pizza Hut and Uber which will help the Japanese auto giant with development of modules. Already provided a concept to Pizza Hut created based on e-Palette of the self-governed machine for delivery of pizza. In way employees of a pizzeria on wheels will be able to prepare dishes.

With  the partners Toyota will work on creation of an ecosystem around the project. At the same time  freedom at registration of an interior of the car, setup of auto pilots and installation of control and management systems for the park of UAVs is provided to them.

In Toyota plan that the E-Palette cars  will be able to execute a broad spectrum of tasks and will be used, for example, in services of ridesharing, as mobile hotels, for the product delivery, etc.

The beginning of testing of E-Palette is planned for 2020.[1]
