He also said that in 2022, Rigla plans to purchase other medium and small pharmacy chains, as well as single pharmacies.

The deal between the Rigla and Pharmacy Vyatka chains continued the trend towards the consolidation of pharmacies in Russia. The trend towards the merger of pharmacy chains and readiness to enter new regions led to a strengthening of the position of large chains and a reduction in the share of small market participants.

At the end of November 2021, there were more than 71 thousand pharmacies in Russia. This figure is almost 3 thousand more than in the same period of 2020, according to AlphaRM data. Regional chains showed the maximum loss of pharmacies, their number became less by 1,356 pieces, and federal networks opposite increased by 5,088 pharmacies.

Earlier, Rigla bought the Kolomna chain of pharmacies DOMpharma. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, the general director of Rigla, Alexander Filippov, said that it was "mutually beneficial."

According to AlphaRM data for January-November 2021, Rigla is the largest pharmacy chain in Russia with a market share of 6.5%. The company operated in 58 regions.[1]
