2024: Rigla bought "Pharmacy from the warehouse"
In early December 2024, it became known that Rigla completed the acquisition of 47 pharmacies of the Pharmacy from Warehouse chain in the Volga region, including 37 points in the Saratov region and 10 in Volgograd. All acquired points will operate under the Zdravsiti brand.
According to Vedomosti, the deal is part of Rigla's expansion strategy in the regions of Russia. The former owner - Pharmsklad Group of Companies - has 57 outlets in other regions of the country. The acquisition of a regional network increases the availability of medicines to the population through the use of a well-functioning supply system and a wider range of federal networks.
Nikolay Bespalov, RNC Pharma's senior development director, estimated the transaction value in the range of ₽300 million to ₽500 million, excluding the seller's debts and obligations. According to him, the return on investment will be three to four years, while maintaining the current profitability indicators.
After the acquisition of new points, the total number of Rigly pharmacies in the Saratov region reached 119, and in the Volgograd region - 53. The company forecasts a twenty-five percent increase in revenue in these regions in the first quarter of 2025.
According to statistics for the nine months of 2024, Rigla ranks second in the Russian pharmacy market with revenue of ₽136,2 billion and an increase of twenty-four percent. The company's total network includes 4,920 pharmacies nationwide.
According to the publication, for the first time since 2018, the company lost its leadership in the April network market, which over the same period increased revenue by fifty-five percent to ₽136,4 billion. In the face of increased competition, Rigla plans to continue expanding through the acquisition of both individual pharmacies and entire regional chains.
The expansion of its presence in the Volga region will allow Rigle to optimize logistics processes and strengthen its position in a strategically important region.[1]
