2025: Moscow bought Ostafyevo airport from Gazprom for 2.7 billion rubles

In December 2025, it became known about the transaction on the acquisition by Moscow of the property complex of the Ostafyevo airport from PJSC Gazprom. The cost of the asset amounted to 2.724 billion rubles.

According to Vzglyad, Ostafyevo Airport, located in New Moscow, has historically been used to base business aviation. It was reconstructed and opened for operation by Gazprom Avia in 2000, and in 2007 received international status. In January 2024, the airfield was excluded from the register of state aviation airfields, which removed restrictions on the approval of construction projects in its environment.

According to Interfax, the possibility of creating an airport with an area of up to 200 hectares of a technopark on the adjacent lands was previously considered. This plan was announced in October 2019 by the head of the department for the development of new territories of the capital, Vladimir Zhidkin.

The key issue for the implementation of construction plans is the transport accessibility of the location. At the same time, Ekaterina Sivova, co-owner of the investment company Garnet, stressing the high liquidity of land plots as an asset, pointed out that the location of the former Ostafyevo airfield has limited attractiveness for residential construction.

Ekaterina Sivova attributed the advantages of the location to the proximity to the Shcherbinka railway station. According to the expert, exclusively inexpensive housing can be built on this territory, most likely apartments. At the same time, Sivova noted that the project of economy class apartments in this location looks contradictory.

According to observers of the Vzglyad publication, Moscow's interest in acquiring the territory of the Ostafyevo airfield is long-term. The capital's authorities had the appropriate intentions back in the early 2000s, but this required coordination of the issue with Gazprom[1][2]
