2024: Launch of an AI system to check errors when transferring funds from the city budget

In August 2024, it became known that the Moscow Department of Finance was the first in Russia to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) for automated verification of payment documents related to the transfer of funds from the city budget. The new system significantly reduces data processing time and improves the accuracy of error detection, which helps to improve the efficiency of urban financial structures.

Together with the Moscow Department of Information Technology, a unique AI system was launched that uses computer vision technology to analyze payment documents of treasury support participants. The head of the Moscow Department of Finance, Elena Zyabbarova, noted that the introduction of artificial intelligence brings the quality of interaction with recipients of budget funds to a new level. The system checks the documents for errors and confirms that they fully comply with the requirements for safe and prompt transfer of funds.

The head of the Moscow Department of Information Technology, Eduard Lysenko, said that the AI system processes documents almost twice as fast as traditional methods - on average in 5-6 minutes. The algorithm not only speeds up the process, but also helps to identify errors, such as the lack of the necessary documents or incorrect filling of bank details. To train the neural network, it took about 2 thousand documents and two months of work of specialists. The accuracy of the algorithm already exceeds 90%, and the system continues to learn more in the process of work, which makes it more effective and convenient for employees who do not have IT education.

In the future, it is planned to further develop the treasury support functionality and improve client services for recipients of budget funds.
