2021: Sophos bought Refactr
In early August 2021, cyber solutions manufacturer Sophos Group acquired an American developer of products to automate security checks and eliminate vulnerabilities in Refactr software. The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.
The acquisition came about two weeks after Sophos bought another startup, Braintrace, which is developing software to scan packets passing through the company's network to detect malicious data traffic.
Refactr focuses on another part of the cybersecurity market known as the DevSecOps segment. DevSecOps is a generic term for a wide range of products designed to help developers write safer code and thus reduce the risk of cyber attacks.
Sophos said Refactr technology will improve the company's security management, automation and response (SOAR) capabilities.
As we have seen on recent incidents in the supply chain, attackers are increasingly targeting software development pipelines, and cyberspecialists need opportunities to make a "shift to the left," said Sophos Technical Director Joe Levy. - The industry needs SOAR to be transformed into more functional and versatile DevSecOps solutions, and the acquisition of Refactr by Sophos will help us become a leader.[1] |
