2019: Thoma Bravo purchased Ellie Mae for $3.7 billion
In February, 2019 the Thoma Bravo investment company announced acquisition of Ellie Mae for $3.7 billion. Counting on one stock of the absorbed company the cost of the transaction is $99 that is 47% more than an average quotation rate in 30 days which preceded the declaration of Ellie Mae sale.
After the announcement of the transaction of the stock Ellie Mae rose in price more than for 20%, and since the beginning of the 2019th their price grew by 30%. It is going to close the transaction in the second or third quarters 2019. After this Ellie Mae will become private company, and its actions will remove from the exchange.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ellie Mae is provided the 35-day period during which the company can consider other offers on purchase.
The Jefferies company became the partner of Thoma Bravo in financing of acquisition of Ellie Mae. She advises the buyer on financial questions, and the similar consultant of Ellie Mae selects JPMorgan bank. On legal issues of Ellie Mae advises Cooley, and Thoma Bravo — Kirkland & Ellis company.
Ellie Mae is not the first software company purchased by Thoma Bravo. The investment giant by February, 2019 also owns Barracuda Networks, Qlik, Veracode, etc. Besides, in 2018 the Financial Times edition with reference to the informants wrote about plans of Thoma Bravo to purchase Symantec.
