2021: Acquisition by Qlik
On August 13, 2021, Qlik announced to TAdviser the acquisition of NodeGraph, a developer of customized metadata management solutions. Integration of the solution of NodeGraph will expand possibilities of the integration Qlik platform due to interactive display of origin of these (Data Lineage), the analysis of efficiency and data management (data governance). This, in turn, will contribute to the implementation of the concept of "explainable BI," which implies transparency in working with data and trust in data as a source of decision making, Qlik noted.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Qlik will provide full support to all existing NodeGraph customers and partners, many of whom are also Qlik customers. Qlik will integrate NodeGraph into its own SaaS solutions, including Qlik Catalog, in the second half of 2021 and will begin monetizing the service in the fourth quarter of 2021.
According to representatives of Qlik, the acquisition of NodeGraph contributes to the development of the concept of Qlik Active Intelligence: decisions are made on the basis of analytics of verified data, updated in real time, which increases the value of data in the business.
Companies are increasingly making data-driven management decisions, so it is critical that all data in the organization is up-to-date, validated, and unified. NodeGraph provides interactive information about the origin of data, an analysis of the effectiveness and capabilities of data management: all this makes data sources, the process of changing data and their reliability completely transparent. This transparency increases employee confidence in data. Trust, in turn, is a key element in creating an Active Intelligence culture in which data becomes an integral tool in solving business problems, noted Mike Capone CEO Qlik.

Companies are engaging more and more employees with data to make more effective and timely decisions. Since data for decision-making comes from different sources distributed throughout the company, IT managers and top management must cooperate so that the data remains reliable and uniform and is correctly used by all participants in the process.
An interactive view of the origin of data and enhanced data management capabilities will NodeGraph allow Qlik customers to get a more complete overview of the structure of data pipelines - from source systems to transformation and use.
According to Qlik, NodeGraph can be easily connected to the ecosystem of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, and a number of analytical products such as Qlik, SSIS, Snowflake, Microsoft Power BI and Tableau. This flexibility corresponds to Qlik's agnostic approach to integrating data into any BI systems. The depth of data understanding in the NodeGraph will help companies expand access to data and support analytics upgrades to the cloud.
