This acquisition will become an important contribution to the strategy of Riverbed on creation of software-defined network solutions of new generation.

One of the first decision makers for SD-WAN, the Ocedo company developed the complete software-defined network solution for offices of branches. The portfolio of its products includes security gateways, wireless access points and gateways and also the management system integrated with a cloud which provides instant providing resources and centralized operation with remote devices and network services.

The solutions SD-WAN arrange and simplify implementation of hybrid WAN networks that gives to IT departments the chance quickly and safely, more flexibly and just to provide access to the applications which are in DPC or a public cloud. According to forecasts, in the next several years the SD-WAN market considerably will grow. According to Gartner, by the end of 2019 of 30% of the organizations will use the products SD-WAN in all branches — at today's indicator in 1% (Gartner, Inc., Predicts 2016: Enterprise Networks and Network Services, Bjarne Munch, on December 1, 2015)

2016: Riverbed purchased Ocedo company - SD-WAN producer

In January, 2016 Riverbed Technology company, the expert in support areas and implementations of infrastructure of application performance management, announced acquisition of Ocedo, the supplier of software-defined network services and solutions of SD-WAN with the headquarters in Germany. This transaction will accelerate strategy implementation of Riverbed on providing software-defined network solutions which provide to modern hybrid organizations performance of applications and business flexibility. Acquisition of this private company will allow Riverbed to expand and accelerate providing to clients the services of SD-WAN, best in the class, and at the same time will create perspective opportunities of growth both for Riverbed, and for her partners.

Approach of Riverbed to software-defined network technologies which focuses attention on applications and its features provides fast and flexible delivery of applications to the periphery of the distributed organizations. Besides, Riverbed offers the complex platform of application performance management for ensuring end-to-end visibility of work, optimization and control which allow the organizations to use advantages of software-defined network solutions fully.

This purchase will also allow to develop Project Tiger, Riverbed initiative announced in the fall of 2015. The company is going to bring in its framework on the market a new packet of the SD-WAN-solutions considering features of applications which will eliminate need of use of traditional routers, will provide instant providing resources and management with them. These solutions will work based on a new software operational platform which will make possible creation of flexible service chains as for native services and applications of Riverbed, and for third-party services and applications. Pilot SD-WAN the solution Riverbed is going to start in the first quarter 2016. It will supplement and broaden the existing platform of performance of applications of the company.

The team of founders of Ocedo worked in the industry of network technologies several decades including with the project — Astaro, the company specializing in area of network security which was purchased by Sophos in 2011.
