Urban Sports Club

Founded in 2012, Urban Sports Club from Germany offers users a subscription to sports classes at a fixed price. The service provides access to more than 50 sports, including fitness, swimming, yoga, team sports, recreational activities. By June 2021, the price for classes with Urban Sports Club ranges from 29 euros/month to 129 euros/month. The service provides services in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal. Users can download the Urban Sports Club application, the version is available for both Android and iOS.

History

2021: Attraction 80 million euros

At the end of June 2021, the Urban Sports Club sports service throughout Europe successfully completed a funding round worth more than. The investment round was led by the German media company ProSiebenSat.1, and Claret Capital Partners, HV Capital, Partech, Leonid Boguslavl's fund RTP Global, Rocket Internet and INKEF Capital invested in the service.

Urban Sports Club plans to use the funds raised to raise awareness about the sports club and health/fitness through advertising on television and online platforms, as well as to strengthen the company's network throughout Europe, which has more than 12,000 partner outlets in seven EU countries. The company also intends to expand the team, which by June 2021 has about 400 employees, and open new positions, expand the list of services offered. Urban Sports Club wants to involve individual companies in the partnership, providing opportunities for corporate sports in order to improve employee health.

The CEO and co-founder of Urban Sports Club, Benjamin Roth, noted that the investor ProSiebenSat.1 and his investment company SevenGrowth are ideal partners, as the Urban Sports Club will be able to use their marketing opportunities to get even more people out of "lockdown-inspired lethargy and encourage them to become healthy."^[1][2]
