SSM-Tyazhmash Machine-building center

The machine-building center "SSM-Tyazhmash" produces powders of different brands already more than a quarter of the century and is the only producer of iron powders in Russia. In 2019 at an industry show "Threw the Expo" the company got a gold medal for development of the diffusion alloyed powders which do not have analogs in Russia.

History

2020: Mechanicians of Severstal company confirmed suitability of metal powders for 3D - printings

The machine-building center "SSM-Tyazhmash" (is a part of the Severstal Russian Steel division) at the beginning of 2020 passed researches of a possibility of use of the water sprayed self-produced powders in technologies 3D-printinga. Researches on technologies of the selection laser melting (SLM) and direct laser cultivation (DLD) were conducted by experts of the St. Petersburg polytechnical university.

The water sprayed brand 304 powders produced in workshop of serial production SSM-Tyazhmash were investigated. Works were carried out in two steps: the water sprayed powders were investigated in an initial status and after plasma spheroidization. The second assumes melting of a particle of powder in a plasma stream for the subsequent giving of spherical shape.

The received samples showed result on a tear strength and strength comparable with requirements of the specifications and technical documentation of this steel, and at SLM technology even above it. Use of powder after plasma spheroidization allows to try to obtain stabler mechanical characteristics, raises quality characteristics of a part.

"Mechanicians "SSM-Tyazhmash" master additive technologies since 2018. Within two years using the 3D-printer in workshop of procurement production more than 200 models from plastic for casting of parts of units were produced. In the long term we are going to master 3D-printing on metal powders. This research proves that as material we can safely use the water sprayed self-produced powders. This initiative answers our vision regarding implementation of long-term goals of strategic priorities "Leadership in cost reduction", - the director of repairs of the Severstal Russian Steel division Sergey Dobrodey notes.

2018

For December, 2018 the machine-building center "SSM-Tyazhmash" is repair division of PJSC Severstal, is a part of directorate on repairs. The division has the potential and capacities of large engineering enterprise.

2010

For September, 2010 SSM-Tyazhmash was engaged in production and repair of the metallurgical equipment practically for all repartitions of metallurgical production: aglo-domain, steel-smelting, rolling. The enterprise included two foundry workshops, forge workshop, workshop of metalwork, three machining-machine-assembling workshops.

SSM-Tyazhmash is included into SSM group (Severstalmash) which is a machine-building division of Severstal-group holding. For September, 2010 the number of employees is 3 thousand people.

2004

In 2004 SSM-Tyazhmash underwent certification of a quality management system according to requirements of ISO 9001:2000.

2002: Basis

The SSM-Tyazhmash LLC enterprise was founded in 2002 based on workshops of a repair complex as a part of JSC Severstal.
