Olkon is developing iron quartzite deposits in the Zaimandrovsky iron ore region located on the Kola Peninsula (Murmansk Region). These fields are one of Severstal's raw materials. Currently, ore mining at the plant is carried out at five quarries and an underground mine. The total annual ore production volume is 14.5 million tons. The main technological equipment used in open-pit mining is EKG-10 excavators, 250 MN SSh drilling rigs, BelAZ 75131 and 75145 dump trucks, Unit Rig MT 3300 AS.
History
2025: Launch of an enterprise at the Pechegub field for 1.8 billion rubles
Olkon JSC (Olenegorsk GOK, part of PAO Severstal) completed the construction and commissioning of the maintenance and maintenance complex (maintenance and repair) at the Pechegubskoye field in the Murmansk region. The volume of investments in the project amounted to more than 1.8 billion rubles. This was announced in December 2025 by the press service of the company. The facility will serve mining equipment at the Komsomolsk and Pechegub quarries. The deposits provide about 50% of the total ore and rock production of the plant.[1]
