The Monetka retail chain is one of the leading retail chains in Yekaterinburg and the Ural region. The network as of January 01, 2010 includes 214 stores. Of these, 22 are Coin Super supermarkets and 192 are Coin discounters. Monetka TS stores operate in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Kurgan, Moscow, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

On March 17, 2008, FIT took part in a project to automate a new network of 15 discounters, which are part of the Monetka transregional network in Moscow and the Moscow Region.

2023: Lenta bought Monetka

On October 17, 2023, Lenta officially announced the purchase of the Monetka chain of convenience stores, which includes 2120 outlets. According to the press service of Lenta on October 17, 2023, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia granted a petition to agree on a transaction with the simultaneous issuance of an order to take actions aimed at ensuring competition. Among other things, on the basis of this regulation, Lenta will fulfill social obligations for one year to establish a maximum level of trade markups for some trading positions in the Khanty-Mansiysk urban district. The deal is closed.

It is expected that the Monetki business will continue to function as a separate legal entity with the preservation of the main operating processes, and the stores will operate under the existing brand. Lenta will begin to consolidate the acquired business in its statements from October 2023.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lenta Alexey Mordashov said that the deal will give new impetus to the development of the group, strengthening its position in the regions and increasing its share in the grocery retail market. According to Lenta CEO Vladimir Sorokin, the next step will be to combine procurement conditions and find synergies in logistics, IT and other processes in order to increase business efficiency.[1]
