Department of Culture of the city of Moscow

The Department of Culture of Moscow (according to the Regulation on the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow, approved by Decree of the Government of Moscow of June 6, 2007 No. 450-PP "On the reorganization of the Committee for Culture of the city of Moscow into the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow") is an sectoral executive body of the city of Moscow, subordinate to the Government of Moscow, ensuring the implementation of the city's policy and conducting management in the field of culture.

History

2023: Natalya Drozhnikova left the post of head of the Department of Theaters and Concert Organizations

An updated list of the composition of the leadership appeared on the website of the Moscow Department of Culture on November 1, 2023. It no longer includes Natalya Drozhnikova, who since 2012 has held the post of head of the Department of Theaters and Concert Organizations of the Moscow Department of Culture.

On October 26, Moskovsky Komsomolets wrote that Drozhnikova had already left the depcult, and the Office of Theaters and Concert Organizations was abolished. This, the newspaper claims, she informed the directors of the subordinate theaters at the last video meeting. Today, on the department's website, the Guide page has been updated, and Drozhnikova's personal page has been deleted. There is no information about which unit will now be responsible for the work of theaters.

Over the past few years, significant changes have taken place in the subordinate Drozhnikova theaters. Among them - a number of associations of Moscow theaters: the Hermitage was connected with the Sphere, "ApART" - with the Taganka Theater, MOST Theater - with the Mossovet Theater, Dzhigarkhanyan Theater - with the Satire Theater, "GROWTH Theater in Tsaritsyno" - with MTYUZ, Moscow Children's Chamber Puppet Theater - with the Moscow Puppet Theater, Theater "Shadow" - with the Moscow Children's Theater of Shadows, "Ballet Moscow" became part of the "New Opera," and after the dismissal of Dmitry Volkostrelov from the post of artistic director of the Meyerhold Center, CIM became part of the "School of Dramatic Art."
