TAdviser Report Comment
In 2014, the slowdown in the Russian economy has not yet had time to fully affect the revenue of the 100 largest IT companies in the country. However, emerging trends have identified clear risk areas. First of all, the traditional integrator business of resale and support of imported equipment is threatened. A significant event was the bankruptcy of once one of the largest players in this area - the Microtest company.
- The total turnover of the 100 largest IT ranking companies in 2014 amounted to 876.3 billion rubles.
- The turnover of companies from the TAdviser100 ranking compared to 2013 increased by 8.6%, and in dollar terms decreased by 9% (at the corresponding average annual rates of the Central Bank).
- Of the 100 players, 19 showed negative revenue. Another 17% of companies finished the year up 5% or less.
- The most noticeable decline in revenue was recorded at Mezhregiongaz Technologies (formerly ANT-Inform) (-37%) and NVision Group (-29%).
- The maximum increase in revenue was demonstrated by Interprocom (+ 169%), Bi Ai Consult (178%), NIIME (+ 63%), Altel (+ 88%), InfoWatch (+ 67%) and EPAM Systems (EPAM Systems) (+ 57%)
- The turnover of the Sberbank Insourcer Company "Sber Tech" increased by 48% with an increase in the number of personnel by 40%. At the same time, against the background of the assurances of integrators about the low efficiency of insourcing companies, Sber Tech has a production rate per person far from the lowest - 2.3 million rubles, and exceeds similar indicators, for example, Maykor, Galactica, SKB Kontur or R-Style Softlab (Er-Style Softlab).
- The share of the top 10 suppliers is 56% of total revenue, and the share of the top 20 is 78%.
- Among the top 10 companies, only 2 players have a decline: NCC (-2.2%) and NVision Group (-29%). Among the top 20 - a decline in 5 companies, in addition to the two mentioned, also in CROC (-3%), Complink (-11%) and SAP CIS (SAP CIS) (-0.3%).
- The share of revenue of regional companies in the top 100 is only 4% of the total. Among the most noticeably represented cities are St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan.
- According to the results of 2014, it can be stated that the regional IT business is greatly squeezed in favor of Moscow (more precisely, federal) companies, which is logical in a situation where there is practically no IT policy on the ground within distributed holdings, and basically all decisions and budgets are approved in the center. Accordingly, the business of regional companies, as a rule, reaches the point of merger with a large Moscow integrator or service provider in its development. Many of the federal integrators are beginning to reduce their regional networks, due to a noticeable decrease in the IT budgets of regional authorities and businesses (sometimes over 50%). It gives some chance to local players.
- In the context of a slowdown in the economy and taking into account the waiting position of customers throughout the 1 quarter of 2015, one can hardly expect significant positive revenue dynamics of the top 100 companies in the ranking at the end of 2015. It is known that IT budgets are on average reduced by 10-15%, including in the public sector, which traditionally supported the industry with orders. Apparently, the segment of system integration (traditional box moving) will be reduced - due to an increase in customer interest in direct contracts with vendors. At the same time, it is likely to continue to grow, or at least remain afloat, the IT services segment and especially IT outsourcing.
- The direction of import substitution at the end of 2015 is likely not to indicate serious support for the IT industry - so far large-scale work has not begun in this plane. Except for projects for military-industrial complex enterprises, which, firstly, are historically focused on domestic products, and, secondly, for the IT market in the traditional view remain conditionally closed (or conditionally "allocated" to Rostec).
- The growth of Rostec's influence in the IT industry, supported by the Ministry of Communications, is also a bad signal for commercial players, as it strengthens the tendency to nationalize this area and reduce competition in it.
- Russian offices of foreign companies may retain some increase in IT costs in rubles - since, as a rule, they conduct projects based on budgets in foreign currency.
- Relatively stable growth will be maintained by developer companies actively working in foreign markets (as "Kaspersky Kaspersky)"), or outsourcers, also interacting with "dollar" customers (Luxoft (Luxoft Professional), Epam).
