Performance indicators

2022: Revenue growth by 540% to RUB 224 mln

Cloudbear, a Russian developer of microprocessor cores with RISC-V architecture, received revenue of 224 million rubles in 2022. This is about 540% more than the result for the previous year, when the result was demonstrated at the level of 35 million rubles. The corresponding indicators were disclosed on May 12, 2023.

According to CNews, referring to the data of the Federal Tax Service, collected according to Russian accounting standards (RAS), in 2022 Cloudbear received 178.5 million rubles. net profit. For comparison: a year earlier, this figure was 11.5 million rubles. Thus, an increase of 1,451%, or more than 15 times, was recorded. In addition, the company was able to significantly increase the balance sheet: it grew by 1150% - from 15.6 million rubles. at the end of 2021 to 194.7 million rubles. at the end of 2022. Cloudbear's annual workforce was little changed, expanding from 15 to 17.

The revenue of the Russian developer of microprocessor cores Cloudbear for the year soared by 540%

As noted by Cloudbear CEO Sergei Kruk, the sharp increase in indicators in 2022 is due to the closure of several large product licensing transactions. Plus, the company realized the commercial potential laid down in previous years.

These are complex, high-performance solutions, the development of which was carried out for several previous years, - CNews quotes Crook as saying.

It is noted that Cloudbear is known not only in Russia, but also abroad. Interest in RISC-V products is growing around the world, including in the Russian Federation. This is due to the desire of government customers and IT companies to reduce dependence on chips with x86 and Arm architectures. On the Russian market, the emergence of domestic RISC-V processors will partially solve the problem of a lack of solutions from foreign suppliers, many of whom left the Russian Federation due to the current geopolitical situation.[1]

History

2021: Acquisition of a stake in CloudBear by Warton

The group, a "Warton" shareholder of the company Baikal Electronics and, Astra Linux GC acquired a stake in CloudBear, Russian a developer processor of IP cores based on RISC-V. This was reported on December 10, 2021 TAdviser to Baikal Electronics Financial. details of the deal were not disclosed.

CloudBear IP processor cores use Russian and international design centers in their on-chip systems that design microcircuits for embedded systems, network applications, artificial intelligence, wireless communication systems and data storage systems

"The investment in CloudBear is a mutually beneficial transaction with the possibility of a" long-playing "synergistic effect for all participants. As new shareholders, it gives us an exclusive opportunity to priority access to the company's advanced technologies, modernize them to meet our requirements and develop our own product based on them. At the same time, it is important that CloudBear will continue its independent development, "said Ilya Sivtsev, co-owner of the Varton group.

According to Andrey Evdokimov the general director of Baikal Electronics, the company plans to use IP core technologies based on CloudBear's RISC-V architecture in its own projects to develop domestic (processors Baikal-L specially designed for) and laptops(Baikal-S2 server processors for). cloud computing

"Participation in the project of such large domestic design centers as Baikal Electronics and Milander gives our team the opportunity not only to develop new IP products, but also to jointly form requirements for processor cores, microcircuits based on which will be in demand by the market," said Sergey Kruk, CEO of CloudBear.

As he added, CloudBear has many ambitious tasks and projects, and the company, like the entire IT market, is experiencing an "acute personnel shortage." In this regard, the key task of CloudBear is to expand the team with specialized strong specialists for new projects.

In turn, Sergey Shumilin, Deputy General Director for Science of PAC Milander JSC, said that Milander invested and began working with CloudBear more than 5 years ago. During this time, CloudBear managed to develop a wide range of IP blocks of RISC-V processor cores, and Milander launched mass production of popular microcircuits based on these cores, thereby confirming that the RISC-V architecture is not only of academic interest, but is also quite mature commercial technology. In his opinion, the development of RISC-V in Russia will strengthen the scientific school of processor building within the framework of the global trend using the developments of the global RISC-V ecosystem, while accumulating its main part in the country - the development of processor cores themselves and microcircuits based on them.

The emergence of another large investor in this segment will significantly strengthen and accelerate the development of RISC-V. Will make this architecture more popular and in demand, - Sergey Shumilin is convinced. "Taking into account the actually resurgent domestic microelectronics market, the products of Milander and Baikal Electronics will complement each other, and such cooperation is mutually beneficial both for our companies and for the industry as a whole."

2017: Purchase of a stake in CloudBear by Milander

In 2017, Milander acquired a stake in CloudBEAR.

According to September 2017, CloudBEAR is developing processor a SF core block for embedded applications. Configurable and extensible 32/64-bit RISC-V core with the ability to select standard and additional RISC-V extensions is suitable for applications requiring high performance and low power consumption; meets high performance requirements for management tasks in embedded and cyberphysical systems, storage systems, wireless modems, and network applications.
