2021: Raising $15 million of investments, including from RTP Global
In mid-April 2021, the iSeed II microwave fund raised $15 million to invest in the Indian startup ecosystem. Investors were about 60 partners of the iSeed Fund, as well as funds such as RTP Global, FJ Labs, Tribe Capital, Hummingbird and Kamco Jedi Fund.
The first iSeed fund was launched in May 2020 and invested in the development of about 36 startups together with institutional investors, including Sequoia Capital India and Lightspeed India Partners. Among the invested startups of the first fund iSeed you can find Pepper Content, FloBiz, Velocity, BimaPe, PagarBook, qoohoo.
Using the second fund, iSeed plans to invest in the development of another 50 startups, investing from $100 000 to $250 000 in the initial stages. Thanks to the opening of a new fund, the company can also make additional investments in the already existing portfolio. It is known that iSeed has already conducted two investment operations with the participation of the second fund.
The startup ecosystem in India is gradually maturing, and investment is gaining momentum, as more firms are interested in the development of Indian technology companies. We exhausted the possibilities of the first fund earlier than expected, and this time we decided to increase the size of the fund. iSeed II will allow us to double our investments in the development of Indian startups, although the volume of investments in each company will remain approximately the same, "explained Utsav Somani, partner of iSeed and AngelList India. |
The iSeed Foundation also seeks to ensure regular interaction between Indian partners and founders of Silicon Valley startups. In addition, the fund provides mentoring opportunities from managers of Stripe, AngelList, Uber, Facebook, Google and other large companies.[1]
