Revenue of cluster participants reached 70 billion rubles
The total revenue of residents of the photonics and microelectronics cluster in Moscow in 2022 reached 70 billion rubles. This was announced in mid-July 2023 by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow on economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov.
Today, photonics is actively used in a wide range of industries. For the successful development of this area in October 2022, a cluster of photonics and microelectronics was created in the capital. It included more than 50 leading companies, 20 of which are residents and tenants of the Moscow Technopolice Special Economic Zone (SEZ), he said. |
Efimov stressed that the project to create a cluster made it possible to create 6.6 thousand new jobs for citizens in the capital. It is noted that photonics allows manufacturers to develop unique technologies and products in the field of creating optoelectronic systems, complexes and surveillance equipment, optical materials and elements and other devices.
One of the main projects was the creation of an ecosystem center for the design, production and implementation of photon integrated circuits (FIS), which allow you to increase the speed of information transfer by up to 100 times and reduce the volume of electricity consumption by up to 10 times, said Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
In addition, within the framework of the association, a scientific and technological center for the manufacture of photographic patterns is being created, which are necessary for the production of FIS, he added. |
According to Ovchinsky, photonic integrated circuits are used in many areas and areas, for example, they allow monitoring plant diseases, help in construction, medicine and many other areas.[1]
Create a cross-industry photonics cluster
On October 24, 2022, it was announced the creation of an intersectoral photonics cluster in Moscow. It was launched on the basis of the Moscow Innovation Cluster.
{{quote "On the basis of the intersectoral cluster, enterprises and scientific and technical organizations of the city will be able to work together to create new solutions in this area and launch them into production," said Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations. }}
According to him, due to the new project, it is planned to stimulate the development of the industry. 38 organizations have already become participants in the initiative - about half of the microelectronics enterprises acting as residents of Technopolice Moscow.
Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow investment and industrial policy department, called the creation of a plant for the production of active photonic integrated circuits the first project of the cluster. Research work in this direction will start in 2022.
{{quote 'Residents and tenants of the special economic zone "Technopolice Moscow," the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology, Skoltech, "Cybertech" and other scientifically oriented and production companies will take part in the project, the expert said. }} Ovchinsky added that the first prototypes should be expected in 2025.
The peculiarity of photonic technologies is the acceleration of data processing and transmission by 50-100 times. Parts for devices with this technology are ten times smaller than modern microcircuits.
It is expected that the new Moscow Photonics Cluster will act as the center of the ecosystem for the design, production and implementation of photonic integrated circuits for the largest number of photonic devices of the next generations. Design centers, factories, test sites and production facilities can be included in this system.[2]
