2016: Creation of the company
On June 28, 2016 Siemens announced creation of special division which will invest in the perspective startups developing technologies, important for concern, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.
The new structure which received name Next47 (sending by 1847 when the Siemens company was founded), the technical director of Siemens Siegfried Rusvurm (Siegfried Russwurm) will direct. Formal start of division is planned for October 1, 2016, offices in Berkeley (USA), Shanghai (China) and Munich (Germany) will be started.
Siemens will direct to work of Next47 about 1 billion euros in 2016-2021. This money will go for financing of projects of staff of concern, the startups and the developed companies having "the disruptive ideas" in areas which are strategically important for future Siemens.
In particular, the German giant intends to invest in artificial intelligence, self-governed machines, network technologies for mobile devices, the system of the decentralized power supply and a blockchain for safe data transmission and trade in energy resources.

Development of electric airplanes which Siemens conducts together with the French aircraft manufacturing corporation Airbus became the first project of division. In April, 2016 partners announced cooperation within which it is going to create hybrid propeller installation for the airplanes expected 100 places.
About 200 engineers will be involved in this project. The companies promise to show technical implementation of technology by 2020, and by 2030 — to create a finished commercial product.
