2017: Creation

In July, 2017 it became known of an exit of Amazon in the market of IT medicine. The American company created division under name 1492 (year of discovery of America by Christopher Columbus) which was engaged in software development and the equipment for health care, reports CNBC TV channel. 

The new command works in Amazon headquarters in Seattle (the State of Washington, the USA). One of projects of laboratory consists in creation of the platform for virtual communication of doctors and patients. Besides, the possibility of implementation of the "smart" column Amazon Echo and other devices using the voice assistant to Alexa in medicine, development of storage systems of medical records and creation of electronic medical records is considered. 

Amazon enters the market of IT medicine

It is supposed that the Alexa service will allow to establish operational cooperation of doctors with subordinates. Itself Amazon refused comments on requests of the western media. But studying of the websites with vacancies, LinkedIn and other networks indirectly confirm existence of command 1492, CNBC notes.

Amazon began to be actively interested in medicine in 2017 earlier. So, in March the Internet giant invested in Grail startup which is engaged in development screening tests by determination of early stages of cancer. In July the company employed the former director of medicobiological developments of Box Missie Krasner. Besides, the cloud division of Amazon Web Services (AWS) increases number of contracts with hospitals and drugstores. At last, Amazon has a structure which is engaged in sale of pharmaceutical medicines.
