2018: Amazon laid out $90 million for Blink purchase
On February 12, 2018 the Reuters agency reported that paid Amazon $90 million for acquisition of Blink which was announced at the end of the 2018th.
According to sources of the edition, Amazon studies a possibility of use of Blink chips which can theoretically help Internet giant to cut down production costs and to prolong operation of the different gadgets without recharge — from the camera Cloud Cam up to the "smart" columns Echo.
All this equipment of Amazon works from network so far, but Blink technologies should add autonomy to devices especially as the startup declares capability of the cameras to function from two finger-type lithium batteries (AA format) within two years.
Battery life — a big problem for the devices connected to network — the former manager on devices of Amazon Scott Jacobson (Scott Jacobson) says. — The cameras capable to work months without a break and not requiring wire connection or the electrician during installation are capable to change a situation in the market radically. |
Interlocutors of Reuters say that Amazon was noticed by Blink and began to conduct negotiations on purchase after growth in sales of products of a startup on the website Amazon.com. Judging by the financial statements provided to Amazon in Securities and Exchange Commission USA in the fourth quarter 2017 the company spent $78 million for acquisitions. All amount fell on merger of Blink. However the final offer grew to $90 million taking into account extra fees as other companies also applied for purchase of Blink, informants of the agency know.[1]
