History

2019: Amazon was purchased by Health Navigator

At the end of October, 2019 Amazon purchased a startup of Health Navigator which will become a part of the pilot program of medical care of staff of Amazon Care. Amazon does not disclose financial details of the transaction.

The Health Navigator platform was created for integration of online medical authorities, including telemedicine and medical call centers and also for standardization of process of work with patients. The platform includes tools on the basis of natural languag processing for documentation of complaints to health and recommendations about leaving and also API interfaces for integration into applications.

The pilot project of Amazon Care offers primary medical care and delivery of drugs according to the recipe to the staff of corporation.

The new service Health Navigator saves resources of clients who do not need to spend time for the road to the doctor and waiting. Thanks to a chat or a video call the staff of Amazon and members of their families can contact the doctor or the nurse in real time — the representative of Amazon explained

After primary consultation patients can receive and other services already directly in an office of the doctor, beginning from immunization and finishing with complete diagnostic inspection.

It is the second medical startup purchased by Amazon. The Internet drugstore of PillPack purchased by the company in 2018 became the first consider $1 billion. PillPack services were also integrated into Amazon Care so the service allows to deliver drugs according to recipes.

Health Navigator startup did not make a public statement on acquisition yet, but already sent to clients of the close message of contracts.^[1]
