2021: Acquisition by Databricks

A company Databricks specializing in development in the field big data announced the acquisition the German of 8080 Labs GmbH, the developer of the "low-code" analysis tool data bamboolib. The terms of the deal between Databricks and 8080 Labs are not disclosed.

This package is an array research tool that data is equipped with a graphical interface and is closely integrated related to the language. programming Python

Bamboolib users themselves do not need to have programming skills: the code necessary to process their requests is generated automatically. As a result, users of the package can quickly extract important information from data arrays and create reports based on it. Earlier, according to 8080 Labs, only well-trained data analysts, expert in programming, could do this. Data transformation will also be greatly simplified.

Databricks said that bamboolib will become an integral part of the Lakehouse platform. This platform, according to developers, combines the flexibility and scale of the so-called "data lakes" with the management mechanisms and transactional capabilities of data warehouse management systems. A "data lake" refers to a repository that stores large amounts of data in raw, raw form. The data lake allows you to analyze various non-comparable data in their original format. In turn, a data warehouse is a large enterprise database that stores already structured and filtered data processed to solve some specific tasks.

The development of Databricks allows companies to store all their business data in one place, analyzing them to obtain the information needed by the business or to create models of machine learning and artificial intelligence systems.

The Databricks plans to integrate bamboolib with AutoML, the Lakehouse visualization and management system. Thanks to this, people with only a basic understanding of data analytics will be able to create models for machine learning based on the company's datasets.

The company also noted that enthusiastic analysts in theory will be able to create working models for machine learning, which will have an instant impact on all aspects of the business in a very short time.

There is an acute shortage of data analysts, even beginners, in the market. Associated with this is an increase in demand for low-code data analysis solutions, such as bamboolib. The introduction of such tools will significantly reduce the threshold for entering the profession of data analytics, which, of course, will contribute to reducing personnel hunger. This, obviously, is related to the decision of Databricks to buy a bamboolib developer: a strategic step with an impact on the near future,
noted Georgy Lagoda, Deputy General Director of Software Product Group of Companies.
