2020: Google purchased Dataform
In the middle of December, 2020 it became known that Google purchased the British startup of Dataform which is known for development of the operating system for data warehouses.
Terms of transaction are not disclosed, however it is known that Dataform joined cloud division of Google Cloud. Google is interested in unique employee competences of Dataform, but not in control over business, notes the TechCrunch edition. Founders of a startup are Guillaume-Henri Uon and Lewis Hemens, earlier they worked in Google.
The command of a startup which activity started in 2018 set for itself the task to help the companies which are engaged in large volumes of data, to derive benefit from data which are in the used storages. Intelligent data analysis (data mining) and a business intelligence usually requires a team of engineers and analysts. The Dataform company wanted to simplify this task and, in turn, to make process of the analysis faster and cheap for the organizations that they could use the data fully.
After several conversations with the Google Cloud command it became clear that we are deeply convinced of importance of providing to analysts of the correct tools and technologies to fill what all of us perceive as the missed opportunity in existing solutions, - Guillaume-Henri noted. |
At the same time, as the team of seven people in the complex, competitive and quickly changing market, at us had more ideas, than people or resources for their implementation. Every quarter we always wanted to make much more, than could reach. With assistance of the BigQuery and Cloud Analytics commands and also thanks to joint intellectual leadership and efforts we felt that we together can reach bigger, than separately, - the founder of Dataform added.[1] |
