2019: Google purchased Socratic
In August, 2019 Google announced Socratic purchase, but did not begin to set the price of the transaction.
Socratic focused on development of mobile application, and Google after the transaction updated it. Artificial intelligence technologies (AI) for the help in solving of tasks were added. Users can photograph a question or set it orally then the application will find the relevant answer in the Internet.
The application allows to analyze a request and to break difficult questions into slightly simple then algorithms can find suitable videos which explain the solution, or the websites on which the question in detail understands. Also the program includes manuals and the guides on more than 1000 subjects.
By August, 2019 the application can be installed only on iOS of the device. The release of Android version is expected in the fall.
2013-2015
In 2013 the Socratic company received $1.5 million from investors. Two years later they provided to a startup $6 million more. At that time the volume of the user audience of service was estimated at 500 thousand people.[1]
