2020: Google buys Neverware

In the middle of December, 2020 it became known that Google purchased Neverware company which stands behind development operating system of CloudReady. This solution is created on the basis of the open Google Chromium operating system, it allows to reanimate outdated computers Windows and Mac.

After merge the staff of Newerware to join a command which is engaged in development of Chrome OS and the main product of the company will become the official software package for deployment of the Google operating system on computers.

Neverware assured the users that they without problems will be able to pass to the updated software. Google is not going to change the prices of the CloudReady distribution kit in the nearest future and also to take any other actions which can seriously change functionality or conditions of cooperation with users.

The CloudReady operating system can be started even on the oldest devices, the main requirements: 2 Gbytes of OZU, 16 Gbytes of the internal memory, full access to the computer as the administrator and also existence of the USB connector.

CloudReady enjoys the greatest popularity in educational institutions to inhale life in old PCs with G Suite for Education. Device management is exercised via the console of the administrator of Google. However the enterprises and individuals can use CloudReady too.

The house version of CloudReady free, it does not support integration into the console of the administrator of Google and does not assume technical support. The subscription for educational institutions stands up $20 a year for the device with annual technical support, and the option for the enterprises stands up $49 a year for the device. Paid options include one year of technical support. Upon transition to CloudReady users should remember at least two features of a product: after its installation of return to Windows is not present therefore it is necessary to make the backup copy of files and also after transition to CloudReady access to a local disk becomes difficult because this Chrome OS option almost completely uses Google Drive as storage.^[1]
