Mighty AI

Mighty AI is the startup founded in 2014 and which is engaged in software development which helps the systems of computer vision to mark and identify objects. The company on technologies of pilotless vehicles though clients in other areas also found application of developments. Samsung, Microsoft, Intel, Accenture, Siemens used the solutions Mighty AI. The staff of the company totals 75 employees (for the end of June, 2019), and the headquarters is located in Seattle with additional offices in Detroit and Boston.

History

2019: Uber purchased Mighty AI

At the end of June, 2019 Uber purchased a startup of Mighty AI which for the new owner to develop software for training of pilotless cars at models of computer vision. The transaction is closed, its conditions, including financial, are not disclosed.

Uber works several years on technology of pilotless vehicles and is going to start pilotless taxi on public roads in 2020. The vice president for software development of Uber Jon Thomason noted that training of AI in such conditions is crucial for distribution of technology. With it the company should be helped by Mighty AI which about 40 employees will join Uber at engineering office in Seattle. In general the command of this center includes 450 employees. The software developed by Mighty AI company will teach to distinguish the AI systems of unmanned vehicles other vehicles, people, signs and objects on the road.

Uber purchased software developer for training of pilotless cars

It is not the first step of Uber in this direction – in 2018 the transport giant invested $457 million in the Pittsburgh company Advanced Technologies Group which is engaged in technologies of pilotless driving. Uber intends to make investments in development of this initiative further.^[1]
