Joining MegaFon with Talmer

Key projects for accepting payments in Megafon services were launched jointly with InPlat.

The company's partners are Odnoklassniki and VKontakte social networks, Beeline mobile operators, MTS and Tele2, Avito ad service, as well as the Okko online cinema and one of the largest providers of payment services Qiwi.

With the withdrawal from the Russian market of payment instruments from foreign manufacturers, the need for convenient online payment tools has increased. Closing of MegaFon's deal to buy 100% of InPlat

MegaFon closed in January 2023 a deal to buy InPlat, a player in the mobile commerce market. As representatives of the operator told TAdviser on January 26, 2023, MegaFon acquired 100% of the company from USM structures for cash. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

According to the operator, key projects for accepting payments in MegaFon services were launched jointly with InPlat. Recent projects include the introduction of the SmartPay service, which allows you to pay, even if the subscriber's account does not have enough funds, debiting the missing amount from the bank card without interrupting the payment. According to MegaFon estimates, the service saves subscribers' time and increases conversion for the partner.

2021: Financing from MegaFon, Mail.ru Group, USM, RDIF and Ant Group

On February 12, 2021, MegaFon informed TAdviser that, together with Mail.ru Group, USM, Ant Group and RDIF, they signed binding documents on the creation of two joint ventures (JVs) - payment and financial.

USM will contribute cash and assets to the financial joint venture, including 100% to InPlat. Other shareholders, including Ant Group, RDIF and MegaFon, will contribute cash, assets or both to the financial and payment JV. Read more here.
