Health: Google chief admits serious illness
In May 2013, Google CEO Larry Page finally admitted to having serious health problems. Rumors around his physical condition appeared back in 2012, when at one of the meetings with shareholders the voice unexpectedly changed him, and Page from that moment began to speak in too soft a voice.
Mindful of the illness and sudden death of another famous IT guru, Apple founder Steve Jobs, fans of the Internet company were seriously concerned, since no official information about Page's health was received.
As a result, in May, Page published a post on a personal blog on the Google[4] platform[4], where he finally explained what was happening to him. Fortunately, he did not show any deadly disease, but, nevertheless, his condition cannot be called harmless: for unknown reasons, Page had almost complete paralysis of the vocal cords, so his ability to pronounce phrases was very limited.
For the first time, Page discovered signs of illness 14 years ago, when his voice suddenly roughed up, but then he did not attach serious importance to it, the legendary top manager admitted. However, in the future, his vocal capabilities did not fully recover, so, ultimately, doctors discovered Page's paralysis of the left ligament.
In the summer of 2012, Page wrote, the situation repeated itself, so that now the right vocal cord was almost completely paralyzed, retaining only partial mobility, as a result of which his voice softened.
"Iam fully capable at home and work, although my voice sounds softer than before," Page wrote. "The long monologues now present a challenge for me and perhaps the audience. Sergey [Brin] says that I am the best CEO, as I choose words very carefully, "he joked.
Page's only problem is high-intensity aerobic activity, yet he's still doing kite surfing. Page and his doctors do not fully understand why his vocal cords were affected by paralysis, so Larry plans to invest in the Voice Health Institute, where appropriate research could be carried out.
On December 12, 2022, Bloomberg updated the ranking of the richest people on the planet. In it, Elon Musk took first place with a fortune of $175 billion. Read more here.
