The developer of a mobile packet QuickOffice for work with office files since spring of 2012 belongs to Google. The corporation is going to integrate a product into the Google Apps platform.

The Google corporation announced in June, 2012 acquisition of QuickOffice company, developer of a packet of office applications for mobile platforms iOS, Android and Symbian. Financial terms of transaction are not disclosed.

"QuickOffice has in the arsenal successful products which allow to work conveniently with popular file formats regardless of platform type, said in the blog of Google. - We will be engaged in implementation of the developed QuickOffice of powerful technologies in our packet of the products Google Apps".

QuickOffice allows users to open, edit and create the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the mobile device. Files are saved in a standard format, and it is possible to work with them on any other device, including on the personal computer, having just copied them.

The QuickOffice company was founded in 1997 and since then in the amount attracted $28.5 million investments. Mayfield Fund, Advantage Capital Partners and Shepherd Ventures venture funds acted as investors of the project.

Offices of development QuickOffice are located in the USA, Great Britain, India, South Korea, Ukraine (Kharkiv) and Russia (St. Petersburg).

According to own data of the company, its applications are installed on more than 300 million devices in 180 countries. Clients of QuickOffice are many enterprises. Google assured that they will continue to give support to the existing users of a packet.

Purchase of QuickOffice will allow Google to strengthen a solution portfolio for work with office files. Now the company has in an arsenal a set of the products Google Docs for work with documents, tables and the presentations from the browser. 5 GB of a free space on the server for storage of files are offered to users of this cloud service.

Competitors of Google in the market of mobile platforms - Apple and Microsoft - already have proprietary office mobile applications. At Apple it is mobile version of a desktop packet of iWork, and Microsoft has mobile version of Microsoft Office. Both products are paid though Office is preset on smartphones based on Windows Phone. Let's note that mobile applications of Apple support the Microsoft Office formats.
