2018: Start of the cheapest system of geothermal heating in world
At the end of May, 2018 the Dandelion Energy company announced start of the cheapest system of geothermal heating in the world. Already there are first clients.
Use of natural resources — heat of the earth which is an inexhaustible resource is the cornerstone of geothermal heating. The thermal pump transfers heat of soil or surface water to the heat carrier circulating on a heating system indoors.
To apartment houses infrequently set geothermal heating as it costs much, it is necessary to drill wells. So, in the USA the cost of such house power generating systems is about $40 thousand.
In Dandelion it was succeeded to reduce the price to less than $20 thousand, thanks to the easy pumping equipment from Aaon company which is installed much quicker than the competing solutions. Besides, the Dandelion equipment applies components from aluminum instead of steel and are made using high extent of automation that significantly reduces costs, the representative of the company Katee Ulmann told Bloomberg.
The company will begin to drill geothermal wells in June, 2018. However even in the fall of the 2017th it received orders from 50 clients.
According to Dandelion, the system offered by the company will allow owners of houses of 2500 square feet (232 square meters) who are heated by oven household fuel, to cut down expenses on heating on 20%. The producer is going to lease the equipment at the price of $135 a month for a period of 20 years.
Some American states give privileges for deployment of geothermal heating. For example, in New York not less than $3 thousand are once compensated to households for installation of such heating system.[1]
