2022: Microsoft bought Miburo
On June 14, 2022, it became known about the sale of Miburo to Microsoft. Its participants did not disclose the financial side of the transaction.
With the acquisition of Miburo, we will continue our mission of taking action and partnering with other public and private sector companies to find long-term solutions that prevent foreign adversaries from threatening public and private sector customers, said Tom Burt, corporate vice president of security and customer trust at Microsoft. |
Microsoft detects and helps customers defend against cyber threats from nation states as part of its commitment to keeping customers safe online.
Miburo, led by founder Clint Watts, will be part of the Microsoft Customer Security and Trust.
As Tom Burt, corporate vice president of Customer Security and Trust, stated, Miburo is a leading expert in identifying foreign information operations, and its research teams can detect and attribute malicious and extremist campaigns in 16 languages.
Working closely with Microsoft's Threat Intelligence Center, data scientists and others, Miburo analysts "will enable Microsoft to expand its threat detection and analysis capabilities to combat new cyberattacks and shed light on how foreign actors use information operations in conjunction with other cyberattacks to achieve their goals."[1]
