History
2021: Microsoft bought RiskIQ
On July 12, 2021, Microsoft announced the acquisition of RiskIQ, but did not name the value of the transaction. Bloomberg, citing its informant, reports that we are talking about an amount exceeding $500 million.
Buying RiskIQ will help Microsoft expand information security mechanisms in its products. In June 2021, Microsoft announced that the corporation employs about 3,500 specialists in the field, who have one common goal - to help customers protect everything "from chips to clouds."
Microsoft's decision to buy RiskIQ was also influenced by increased hacking and the spread of ransomware viruses, the press release said. Microsoft added that this deal will help the corporation's customers cope with the unique risks posed by remote work and the use of cloud technologies amid the "growing complexity and frequency of cyber attacks."
Large companies such as Facebook, BMW and American Express use RiskIQ products. In its history, which began in 2009, the RiskIQ raised a total of $83 million (Crunchbase data by July 2021). According to RiskIQ 's own data, the manufacturer supplies technology to 30% of Fortune 500 companies, and the total customer base exceeds 6 thousand organizations around the world.
We join Microsoft to expand and accelerate our reach and impact. We are more committed than ever to our mission. We will work closely with our customers as we integrate additional data and solutions RiskIQ with the Microsoft Security portfolio to provide a best-in-class solution for tracking the perimeter of an attack, detecting threats and responding to them, "said Elias Manousos, founder and CEO of RiskIQ[1] |
